August Empties

If any of you follow beauty channels on YouTube, you are familiar with the concept of “empties.”  These are the products that I finished last month. A few are sample sizes that I was trying out but most are full size. Some of them I will buy again,  and some I won’t. I will list and discuss each product moving left to right and front to back.

Air Optix Multifocal Contact Lens – I have been using these for about 3 years and I love them. They are comfortable and I can wear them all day. Even during allergy season.

Burt’s Bees Renewal Intensive Firming Serum – this sample was in my summer Walmart Beauty Box. I was anxious to try it because I’ve never tried anything in the Burt’s Bees line. The first thing I noticed is that I don’t like the smell. It is too strong for a facial product. It felt ok on my skin but the smell was just too much for me. I would not buy this product.

Avon Anew Power Power Serum –  I got this sample from my Avon lady. It had a much lighter scent than the Burt’s Bees serum. It felt very nice going on the face and left it super soft and smooth. This is something I may buy at some point.

Clinique City Block 13 spf – this is a sample size that I  ordered from Ebay. There were several tubes in the lot I  bought. It is lightly tinted and I tend to get it all in my hairline and on my eyebrows. It goes on kind of thick and you have to work to blend it in. I like that it does not break my face out or leave it looking shiny. I use it daily as neither my moisturizer or foundation have sunscreen in them. I still have several tubes left so I will be using it for awhile.

Clinique Airbrush Concealer in 06 Neutral Cream – I used this to conceal dark spots and the occasional blemish. It has a brush tip and you twist the barrel to get product to the brush tip. I really liked the brush tip. It made aplication a breeze. The concealer had a nice consistency – not too thin and not too thick. I would have preferred better coverage. Maybe the shade wasn’t ideal for me? I probably won’t try this again.

Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover for lids, lashes and lips – this is another trial size that I  bought a lot of on ebay.  This is a great product. It takes off eye makeup without leaving an oily, slimy mess. It even gets off tough waterproof mascara. I  have several more little bottles to use before I have to decide if I’ll buy it again. The little 1 oz bottle lasts me about 3 – 4 months because it doesn’t take much.

Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum – this is a full size bottle of serum. It is supposed to adjust to your skin and target yor trouble areas like dark spots, redness, fine lines, wrinkles. The directions say to use it twice a day but I only use it at night. I do like the way it makes my face feel. It is so soft and satiny feeling after I put it on. I can’t say that I  see incredible changes in my skin in the 4 months I have been using it but I do like it. I will probably buy this again.

Bath and Body Works Moisturizing Body Lotion in Honeysuckle  – this lotion contains Vitamin E, Vitamin C, and aloe. I have been using this lotion and the matching shower gel all summer. It smells amazing and the scent stays with you for hours without being overwhelming. The scent reminds me of my grandmother who loved the smell of honeysuckle. This is a perfect summer scent. It keeps the skin soft and smooth as well. I have a cabinet full of Bath and Body  Works products that I need to use.

Organix Rejuvenating Cherry Blossom Ginseng Conditioner – I used this with the matching shampoo but I finished it up in July. It says it adds volume, shine, and hydration to the hair. The pair seemed to work well. The conditioner is a thicker consistency and rinses out easily. It left my hair easy to comb out after my shower. The only thing that I did not like all that much is the scent. It was a bit heavy for me and I could smell it for hours after my shower. I will probably buy the brand again but in a different formulation.

So these are the products I used up in August. There were more empties than I was expecting. I always feel like shampoo, conditoner, and body wash last me forever! Check back next month to see what ran out. Expect to see more Bath and Body Works as I try to use up all that I have.
