September Empties

Where did the summer go? It is time to not only switch out summer clothes but also to adjust skin care and makeup. I finished quite a few products this month. I am also trying to use up bottles and bottles of shower gels and body lotions. I have so many and I need to finish them. The majority are from Bath and Body Works. Everything smells so good that I can never pick just one scent. I will discuss the products going left to right and bottom row to back row.

Freeman Avocado & Oatmeal Clay Mask  –  this mask says it will purify and deep clean your pores. It is for normal and combination skin. This is a sample I bought at Walmart for $1.37 and I got 3 uses out of it. It is a light, fluffy feeling, green clay mask. It goes on very smoothly and you can feel it tighten as it dries. It takes 15 – 20 minutes to dry. It rinses off fairly easily and left my skin feeling smooth. My problem with this mask is the smell. It is some sickly sweet smell that is awful when you are applying the mask. You are able to smell it less as it dries. This is one of Freeman’s most popular masks and it is a good clay mask. Due to the smell I doubt I will purchase it again. There are too many good clay masks out there and they have to smell better!

Maybelline Superstar Better Skin Skin Transforming Foundation – in shade 50 Natural Beige. This is a “skin improving, long wearig foundation”  with “all-day flawless color coverage” and “better looking skin in 3 weeks.” I got this sample at Walgreens  and got 2 uses out of it. So, I can’t evaluate the claim of better looking skin in 3 weeks. The color was too dark for me but it does come in 12 shades. This was the only color available in the sample size. It was a thin foundation but covered well. It is a medium to full coverage foundation. I have combination to oily skin and I was shiney by the end of the day. This is something that I may try someday. It is supposed to help lighten dark spots and seems to be like Clinique’s Even Better foundation. It is a much better price though! It is around $10 compared to $26 for the Even Better.

Makeup Remover Facial Wipes – these wipes ensures softness and hydration with Vitamin E. There were 40 wipes in the package. I purchased these at Dollar Tree for $1. For the price they are really good. They are significantly thinner than even Equate Makeup Removers but do as good a job. They did not break my face out and they removed my makeup almost totally. I always wash my face after using makeup remover wipes because I want a clean face so that  my serum and moisturizer work best. Having said that, I  do Ike the Equate better. They are bigger, thicker, and softer. I can’t say that they do a better job of removing my makeup. They may even not do as well but they feel better. I would repurchase the $1 makeup removers but will probably stick with the Equate.

Equate Moisture Last Multi- Purpose Solution for soft contacts  – this is Walmart’s version of Opti-Free Pure Moist. A two pack is about $3 cheaper and it works. I try to save money where I can and this is something I use daily.

Bath & Body Works Body Lotion in sun-ripened raspberry –  this is such an awesome scent. It is fruity and sweet and smells like summer. I don’t even know if they still sell it. I used it as part of my project to use up all the gels and lotions in my linen closet.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters facial cleanser with white tea and chamomile –  “boosts softness, evenness & radiance” and “won’t over-dry skin.”  I got this sample in either a Walmart or Target Beauty box. It smells wonderful. A little sweet and a little tangy. It is a clear gel that lathers well. I used it with my Clinique Sonic Brush. I liked this and it seemed to work ok. I am surprised as most Neutrogena products break me out. I’m not sure that I would repurchase because I am satisfied with the Clinique three step routine and not looking to change.

Bath & Body Works Refreshing Shower Gel in Honeysuckle  – is there any more summery scent than honeysuckle? Yum. This is another in my clean it my  linen closet project.

Crest 3D White Luxe Anticavity Fluoride Rinse – promises to strengthen teeth enamel, whiten teeth safely, and kill bad breath germs. It is a foamy mouth rinse with a mint flavor. The flavor is good and is not too strong. I use mouth rinse because my teeth are very sensitive. Although this does not say it is for sensitive teeth, it does say it strengthens teeth enamel. That was not enough because my teeth did get more sensitive when I was using this. I will not repurchase this because it doesn’t help with teeth sensitivity.

Revlon Colorsilk Beautiful Color in 41 Medium Brown – Yes, I do color my own hair. I just cannot  afford the upkeep at a salon. I prefer a golden brown bt this was a great price! The color lasts and it covers grays really well. I would repurchase.

Equate Saline Solution for Sensitive Eyes – I  use saline solution to rinse off my contacts before I put them in and to rinse out my contact case. This reduces my use of my lens solution and saves a little money. Every little bit helps.

I also finished a Bath & Body Works shower gel in Sea Spray. It is not pictured because the bottle disintegrated. It was really old and I was squeezing to get the last bit out when the bottle just broke into chunks. This is a discontinued scent but it used to be my favorite scent. I still have a big bottle of the lotion that is almost full.

September was a good month for using up show gels and lotions. I finished 2 shower gels and a lotion. I still have so many to get through. I could probably go well over a year (or more) without buying any shower gel or lotion at all. I’m just a suckered for a good smelling gel or lotion.
