Birchbox July 2016

Birchbox is a monthly subscription box that costs $10 per month. It contains 5 makeup and/or skin care products. The samples typically are from higher end brands. This box has a sample from Dr. Jart+ and Smashbox. It is a good opportunity to try pricier brands to see if they are worth the price. On first look this box seems like a good one. The only thing that I am not thrilled about is the fragrance sample. I’m just not much of a user of perfumes. I prefer scented shower gels and lotions. So let’s take a peak at what is in this month’s box.

Dr.Jart+ Water Drop Hydrating Moisturizer – this hydrating moisturizer bursts into water droplets that brightens and soothes any skin type with green tea extract. This sounds perfect for my combination/oily summer skin. I have to switch to a lighter moisturizer than what I use in the winter because I am still an oily shine by midday.

Balance Me Radiance Face Mask – Suitable for all skin types, the clay based formula cleanses, exfoliates, and brightens skin. I absolutely love a good mask so I am excited at this sample. I regularly use masks on my face and enjoy trying new ones.

Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow – this multitasking BB cream gives your skin a golden glow while controlling shine and masking imperfections. This sounds interesting and I look forward to trying it. I usually avoid anything that promises to give you a glow, especially in the summer, as they tend to make me look even oilier. This promises to control shine so it may work for my skin.

Smashbox X-Rated Mascara – this unique formula uses Tripod fibers that stack on lashes for endless volume that won’t clump or flake. I enjoy getting to try high end mascaras because I would never pay $22 for any mascara! This is the only way I will be using the pricey brands. I have 2 inexpensive drugstore mascaras that I really like and they work as well as high end brands.

Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris – the designer’s dreamy, ultrawearable scent mingles summery fruits and florals for an elegant vibe. As I mentioned above, I am not much on wearing perfume. The description sounds like something I would enjoy if I did use perfume.

All in all this is a decent box. I am excited to try everything except the scent. I guess 4 out of 5 is pretty good. Birchbox does a good job and is one of my favorite subscription boxes.
