I got my August Birchbox later than usual because my street was closed for a road repair. Then, I finally get it and one of the items had leaked in the box. It was over half gone. That was disappointing. Overall, it is a decent box. This is a monthly subscription box that is $10 per month. It is one of my favorites. They typically offer 3 options each month. You can choose a feature box, you can choose a specific sample for your box, or you can get a box that is based on your quiz answers. This month I chose the box based on my preferences. Some months I choose the feature box. It just depends on what the samples look like.
Beauty Protector Protect & Oil – this customer fave hair oil defends against UV rays, heat, and breakage. Plus, it creates serious shine without feeling greasy. I may wait until cooler weather to try this. It is still hot and humid here in Virginia and I’m afraid an oil would be too heavy.
BioRepublic Skincare Aloe Rescue Revitalizing Fiber Mask – packed with healing aloe vera, plumping phytocollagen, and nourishing Vitamin E, this biodegradable fiber sheet mask is just what our dry skin needs, especially after sun exposure. I am always thrilled to get a mask. I try to use a mask 3 times a week and I like to have a variety to choose from.
Hey Honey Trick and Treat Cream Concealer – this creamy undereye concealer contains active propolis, a mixture honeybees collect from nature that naturally helps revitalize, smooth, and hydrate the entire eye area. This is the item that leaked all over the box. I only have a little left in the tube to try. I did email Birchbox to see if they will replace it. I was able to try this product and wore it all day. It was sticky but blended really well with a beauty blender. It lasted all day and did not sink into the fine lines under my eyes. The downside is that it is not really all that great at concealing the dark spots on my face. I would probably not buy.
Manna Kadar Cosmetics The Day Dream Palette – create the perfect summer glow with this bronzer and highlighter duo, which comes as part of a universally flattering palette. I am always willing to try a new bronzer and highlighter. This is a good brand and one that is often included in these subscription boxes. I have a lip product and another highlighter from the brand and I like them both. Both the bronzer and highlighter are highly pigmented so apply carefully. I overdid the highlighter and I was glowing extra bright all day long!
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick – Patina – this creamy liquid lipstick glides on like a gloss yet lasts (and lasts and lasts) like a stain. If this is as good as the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner then it does last and last. This a beautiful color that does go on so easily. It lasted through breakfast without losing any color.
Shea Moisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Shampoo & Creme Rinse – we’ve added in this coconut shampoo and creme rinse duo to bring curls back to life with a vitamin and oil-infused formula that fights off humidity, plus adds shine. I didn’t realize that anyone had used the term “creme rinse” since the 1970’s. I have curl in my hair so I am looking forward to trying these. They are generous samples and I will get several uses out of them.
All in all, this is a decent box and well worth the $10 it costs. As I said above this is one of my favorite subscription boxes and I enjoy trying the samples that I get. The company quickly responded to my email about the concealer and will be sending me a replacement.
