Ipsy bag – August 2016

Ipsy is a monthly subscription service that is $10 per month. Each month you get a makeup bag with 5 samples of makeup, skincare and/or hair care products. They are usually generously sized samples or even full-size samples. You complete a quiz that helps determine what  products you get. You can subscribe here if you are interested.

I am pretty pleased with my bag this month. The bag itself is super cute. I keep the bags and put excess makeup in them. They make storage easy. The range of products was good and I look forward to trying all of them. Three of the five products are full sized. So let’s see what I got this month.

Dermelect’ME’ Peptide Infused Lacquer in UNSCRIPTED – Now this is a first: A peptide-infused color treatment that strengthens weak, brittle nails. And the fun violet hue puts an extra pep in your tips (both fingers and toes). No chips in this armor. Resists splitting like a champ. Short brush for fuller coverage and a more even coat. 5-free, which means none of the top toxic nail chemicals. This is a pretty dark magenta color. I will use it the next time I do a pedicure. I don’t polish my nails because I’m too rough for any polish to last.

Sally’s Box Secret Garden Ampoule Masks – Feeling parched? Time for a double shot—of hydrating essence. These masks come with an extra serum to use before you mask. Olive Oil Mask nourishes skin and helps diminish the look of fine lines. Camellia Oil Mask gives you a radiant glow. Microfibers in the mask deliver serum to your skin faster and penetrate deeper. I am always excited to get a mask in one of my subscription boxes/bags. I mask three times a week so I go through them regularly. These look extra nice with the extra serum. These would have been better in a winter bag since skin is so much dryer then. I think I will try the Camellia Oil one soon and save the Olive Oil one for when my skin is dryer.

Trust Fund Beauty Liquid Lipstick in K, Bye – Hello, lipstick of our dreams. This gorgeous mauve-y nude is the perfect right-now shade that’s an even more perfect transition into fall. Breathable matte formula (doesn’t suck the life out of your lips!).  Cocoa Butter and Coconut Oil smooth and condition.  10 free, which means no nasty ingredients like parabens and GMOs.  This lipstick is really, really nice . I like the color and it is a good nude for most skin tones. It is not excessively drying and just looks good.

OFRA Cosmetics OFRA x @DupeThat “You Glow Girl” Highlighter – Shine on with your awesome self. This pink-hued highlighter adds the perfect amount of shimmer to eyes and cheekbones. Gleam and go. Pressed powder with strong pigment.  Long-lasting finish won’t lose its luster.  Sweet pink shade adds a rosy glow to all skin tones. I am loving this product! I haven’t tried it yet as an eyeshadow but it is a beautiful highlighter for the face.

Organic Surge Perfecting Face Polish – An olive branch for your skin. Made of finely ground olive stone, it gently removes dirt, impurities and dead cells to give a peaceful glow. Rosemary and lemon oils purify your complexion.  Chamomile and ginkgo biloba soothe and soften.  Almond oil adds extra hydration. I am always happy to get skincare products too. Since I use tretinoin (learn more about Retin A/tretinoin here and here ) I exfoliate to remove all the dead skin caused by its use. This is a good sized sample so I will get many uses from it.

This was one of my best Ipsy bag ever. It had 3 full sized products. I am not unhappy with a single item and love the lipstick and highlighter. I will get use from all my items this month.

      1. Yeah! I have birchbox and the allure box too so I had to cut one and I cut ipsy. Every now and then I see good months for everyone else and it makes me want to reconsider!
