August Empties

Every month I am convinced that I won’t finish anything all month long. And every month I finish a can full of different products. This month is no exception. I finished a ton of stuff and I’m going to give you my opinion of all of them.

SKIN CARE

Botanica Farm Rice Sheet Mask – This was a saturated sheet mask that had ample serum. The mask itself was a good size and fit my face well. My face did look brighter and more radiant after using this.

Malie Green Tea Ultra Hydrating Essence Mask – The polyphenol that is a kind catechi in green tea keeps your skin clean by soothing skin and giving astringent effect from blocking off harmful oxygen. I’m not really certain what it is promising to do. I think something was lost in translation from Korean to English. I ordered a 16 pack of assorted Malie sheet masks on Amazon for less than $11. This is a very nice mask for such a bargain price! It is of a good thickness and is saturated with serum. It has a light, fresh scent. The mask covers my face and it looks better after I use it. These sheet masks are an amazing steal at that price.

BioRepublic Skincare Aloe Rescue Revitalizing Fiber Mask – packed with healing aloe vera, plumping phytocollagen, and nourishing Vitamin E, this biodegradable fiber sheet mask is just what our dry skin needs, especially after sun exposure. Right out of the package I was not particularly impressed. The mask was flimsy and had all these cut-outs that made it hard to totally open up and cover my whole face. It was a good fit for my face but the flaps were hard to pull together. There was not a lot of serum on the mask or in the package. I like to use the excess on my neck and chest. This had very little excess serum and the mask was not saturated. However, my face was really soft the next morning so it did a good job at hydration.

Konjac Sponge – 100% natural, made from vegetable fiber, clean while massage. Key features of Kionjac sponge: gently exfoliates to bring back the natural glow of the skin, kills acne-causing bacteria, effectively balances the pH of the skin, extra soft features are ideal for delicate and sensitive skin, naturally moisturizes the skin, ideal for people with Atopic skin disorders (hypersensitive skin). I don’t know that it delivers on all the promises but I really like it as you can see here 5 Faves in July. I got these to help combat the flakiness that comes from using tretinoin. You can read more about tretinoin/Retin A here and here. I alternate between using these sponges and a scrub in the mornings. It does help with the flaking.

BATH  AND BODY

Avon Skin So Soft Age-Defying Rebalancing Hand Cream – Part of a daily regimen for visibly younger-looking, sensually soft hands. Formulated with exclusive Skin So Soft Age-Correcting Complex plus rich emollients to rebalance skin with lasting moisture. Gives skin a more even tone and provides lasting protection against dryness and flaking. I admit that I am a hand cream junkie and the Skin So Soft line is my favorite. I did not like this formula as much as the regular SSS hand cream but it was good. It is a little thicker and less creamy than the regular version but did leave my hands so soft. If they have it at a good price I would buy it again.

Anderson Lilley Beach Butter Handcream in the scent Manhatten Beach – Enriched with Califonia ingredients. I got this in a Boxycharm box. To learn more about Boxycharm see here and here.  When I first got this hand cream the scent was too strong. I used this at night before bed and the smell was overpowering. A strange thing happened, though. I got used to the scent and came to really like it. The hand cream itself is very nice. It is a butter-like texture and goes on thick. It melts on your skin and left my hands feeling soft and smooth. I enjoyed it very much but probably won’t repurchase as it is around $24  tube. My Skin So Soft is amazing and I can get it on sale for less than $2 a tube.

Bath and Body Works Moisture-Rich Body Lotion in Seaspray – our richest, most moisturizing, body lotion ever treats your skin to long-lasting softness and the cool, invigorating fragrance of Seaspray every day. This is an old bottle of lotion that was in my linen closet. I am trying to use up all the lotions and shower gels I have in there. This used to be one of my favorite Bath and Body Works scents. I hope to finish more than 1 bottle in September.

MAKEUP

elf Makeup Remover Pen – quickly remove makeup smudges, smears, and mistakes without taking off the rest of your makeup. The gentle and non-greasy formula erases even long wearing and waterproof makeup for flawless touchups, perfect for on-the-go. Infused with Vitamin E, Cucumber, and Chamomile to moisturize and condition skin. This is a holy grail product for me. I use it every day to clean up mascara and eyeliner. It removes it instantly. You can apply right over top because it doesn’t leave a greasy or tacky residue. It helps my eye makeup look flawless. For $3 this is the best bargain ever! I keep a supply of these on hand so I never run out.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Original – I got this primer in a smaller Urban Decay palette. The eyeshadows are just ok but the primer is really good. It is a deluxe sample size and it lasted for months. It made my eyelids smooth and matte. Eyeshadow lasts all day, every day.I probably won’t repurchase this although it is very good. It is very expensive and Wet n Wild makes an equally good eye primer for around $5.

Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color – I got this eyebrow pencil in an Ipsy bag. When I first tried it, I didn’t like it at all. Now I am very sad that it is gone! I liked the consistency of it, what a fine point it had, the color of it. It was such a good little eyebrow pencil but I don’t know that I can bring myself to repurchase it at $17.

Hot Cocoa Flavored Lip Balm – I picked up 2 or 3 packages of these when they got marked down after Christmas.I am as addicted to lip balm as I am hand cream. I always keep it in my purse, my desk drawer, on my bathroom counter, and  my coffee table. I slather it on before bed to keep my lips from drying out. The brand doesn’t really matter to me. In the winter I do try to use more moisturizing formulas. This was a fine lip balm and it did what it was supposed to do wth the added bonus of a chocolate flavor.

HAIR CARE

Clairol Expert Age Defy in shade 6G Golden Brown – take charge and take 10 years off, today. Introducing Age Defy, our most advanced gray coverage hair color collection powered with the breakthrough science of Pantene. Fight the 7 signs of aging hair: Stubborn grays, lackluster color, coarseness, frizz, unruly hair, dryness, and breakage. Discover lustrous, radiant color that looks 10 years younger. This is the second time I have used this color on my hair. It does a good job and covers gray hair well. I think I may try it in a lighter shade next time because it is really dark for the first week or so after I use it.

MISCELLANEOUS

Up & Up Saline Solution for Sensitive Eyes – gentle formula for rinsing and storing contact lenses. I use saline solution so that my contact lens solution lasts longer. When I put my contacts in I use saline solution to rinse them off and my case out. After soaking in solution all night they don’t really need solution to rinse them off. This saves a little bit of money since saline solution is around $2 per bottle and the solution is more like $7 a bottle. It is an easy way to save a bit. I’m not brand loyal and always buy generic saline solution.

Crest Pro-Health Whitening Toothpaste – I am not brand loyal to toothpaste either and just buy whatever is on sale. I do have sensitive teeth so I look for one that reduces sensitivity. This toothpaste did a good job and I did not have any excessive sensitivity. I did not like the taste of this though so I won’t buy it again.

Degree Motionsense Invisible Solid Anti-perspirant and Deodorant – Superior motion activated 48hr protection. This came in a Target beauty box in June. Degree is my go-to deodorant once it gets hot outside. I need stronger protection in the summer and this works! I used it on vacation in South Carolina and Georgia in late July and stayed dry and fresh all day. I always repurchase Degree in the summer.

See you at the end of September to talk about what I used up for the month.
