Ipsy Bag – September 2016

Ipsy is a monthly subscription service that is $10 per month. Each month you get 5 samples that range from small samples to deluxe samples to the occasional full-size product. You get makeup, skincare, hair care, beauty tools, and bath and body products packed inside a different makeup bag each month. I generally enjoy this subscription and have gotten some great products. You can what I got in past Ipsy bags here and here. This month’s theme is Glamazon. Let’s talk about what came in my bag.

Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Teaser – Hello, wide eyes. A matte chestnut shade that’s ideal for creating the perfect doe-eyed look. If Bambie used shadow, it would be this one. This is a lovely warm, bronzy brown shade. It is creamy and blends well. This is a perfect crease shade that wears well. I am happy with this and it will see a lot of use.

EYEKO Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner in Black – A definite eye do. Pitch black and the perfect tip to draw a precision line. And did we mention it’s waterproof? Everything a wing could want. Won’t budge. Stays put, even on the waterline. WIDELASH™ lash enhancer helps lashes look longer, fuller and stronger. Electric glide. Goes on easily over shadow.  I have several eyeliners that I haven’t opened yet. I am happy to get this but it will be a while before I try it. I don’t like to open eyeliners until I am ready to use them because they will dry out.

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme – Ready to compete in the next pout-off? Win by a landslide thanks to this incredibly effective formula that glides on clear and leaves lips plump and pink. Immediate satisfaction. Fullness you can see in seconds. Shine on. Reflects the light so there’s no need for color on top. Avocado and jojoba oil condition for a smooth finish.  This did create some fullness in my lips but nothing incredible. It also darkened my natural color by a shade or two. I wore it under a lip color.

Buff Her House of Exfoliation Vanilla Almond Crumbles – The crumbs are our favorite part. This foaming, cleansing and exfoliating scrub lifts away impurities and sends dead skin on its way. Infused with high-quality granules of sugar and rice that polish to perfection. Leaves skin smooth, supple and radiant. Delicious light almond scent has us hooked. I was really looking forward to using this. I was expecting it to smell delicious and be a wonderful, gentle scrub. It had absolutely NO smell at all. Nothing. If that wasn’t bad enough, it was a very harsh exfoliator. This is not something I would ever buy.

NUXE Moisturizing Mask Crème Fraîche de Beauté – Anyone for a milkshake? An incredibly moisturizing mask that soothes and softens even the driest of skin with plant milks and white blossom. Nurse this drink. What a relief. Instantly relieves any skin discomfort. Goes all night. Hydrates for 24 hours, so we always look radiant.  Have cream with that. Rich texture means putting it on is a delight in itself.  I am always thrilled to get a mask in a box/bag. I use masks 3 times a week and I like variety. This sounds perfect for the cold, dry winter air that is just ahead.

Coastal Scents Limited Edition ipsy Pearl Collection – Embrace the makeup artist in you with this ipsy-exclusive set! The Pearl Collection includes a Small Stippling Brush, Medium Shadow Brush and a Precision Pencil Brush. Beautiful pearlesque handles. Soft synthetic bristles. You can earn points on Ipsy by reviewing your bag and the samples inside. I used my points to get this brush set. I am always trying new brushes in a search for the perfect brush. The small stipple brush has a nice compact head that works really well for cream blush. The precision pencil brush makes a nice lipstick brush. I rarely use a brush for lipstick but this is nice when I need one. I used the eyeshadow brush to pack color on the lid. This is really nice for something free.

All in all, I am happy with my bag. The eyeshadow is my favorite so far. I am looking forward to trying the scrub and the mask and hope to love at least one of them. Nothing looks like it is going to be totally unusable. See you next month to see what I get in October.

  1. I like it better. I tried the Sephora Play Box and cancelled after about 3 months. Ipsy is personalized and not everyone gets the same items. There are some months that aren’t great but I have gotten a lot of nice products with my Ipsy bag. I also like the points you get for reviews. The brush set I used my points for is very nice and I am using it almost daily.
