Birchbox is a monthly subscription box that is $10 per month. I have been subscribing to this box for about a year now and I really like it. You get 5 samples or deluxe samples each month. Once in a while, you get a full sized sample. Birchbox offers a choice each month of a featured box, choose a specific sample, or get a box based on your profile. This month I got the featured box. I have never picked the specific sample so far. This month’s theme is Revive and Restore and here is what I got:
This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray – We’re turning to this ultra relaxing pillow spray whenever we need help catching some z’s. It’s packed with 100% pure essential oils, including calming lavender, patchouli, and chamomile—all of which work together to lull us to sleep faster and help us wake up feeling more refreshed. The proof is in the stats: 89% of users in an independent study fell asleep faster and 92% felt more alert the next morning. I used this and I may have slept better. It has a stronger smell than I expected and smells sharper than I expected. I thought it would have a lighter scent.
Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo – Stylist-to-the-stars Oribe brings dry shampoo back to its roots (pun intended) with a micro-fine powder formula that absorbs grease, grime, and build-up without adding texture, grittiness, or weight to your hair. It also strengthens and adds softness, making it easy to brush through and restyle. Plus, the fragrance-retention technology ensures that the luxurious signature Cote d’Azur scent lasts all day. I love dry shampoo so I am happy to receive this. I typically use either Dove or Batiste but am looking forward to trying Oribe because it is not something I would buy due to the cost. I did try it and I don’t see anuthing special about it. I don’t care for the scent and I did not see that much volume.
Avène Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Cream RICH – If your skin feels drier than the Sahara Desert, we’d like to introduce you to the skincare equivalent of a tall glass of water. This deeply nourishing face cream for dry and sensitive skin restores skin’s natural moisture barrier and balances hydration levels throughout the day with a blend of targeted ingredients. Rich shea butter protects skin while Avène Thermal Spring Water gently soothes and softens without irritating. A combo of lipomucine and meiboserine work together to lock in optimum hydration and prevent dehydration. We can’t think of a better way to quench our skin’s thirst. I will save this for winter as a rich cream would be too heavy for my skin right now.
GLAMGLOW® POWERMUD™ Dualcleanse Treatment – While water and oil may not mix, this innovative mask proves that mud and oil make (as unexpected as it sounds) quite the cleansing power couple. This unique formula starts out as mud then, when water is added, transforms into oil to deliver a thorough but oh-so-gentle deep clean. A powerhouse blend of four clays, including ultrarare Brazilian white clay, offers detoxifying benefits, while a mix of prickly pear, pine, frankincense, and myrrh oils help whisk away dirt and makeup while also leaving your complexion velvety soft. Glamglow is such a hyped product that I am excited to get to try it. This sample is actually the reason that I picked this choice for October. Glamglow is so ridiculously over-priced that I don’t ever see buying full sizes.
MAKE Silk Cream Lipstick in Magnolia – We love a lipstick that delivers intense, long-lasting color—and this smudge-proof formula doesn’t disappoint. The hydrating, antioxidant-rich lipstick does double duty as a lip treatment, and, best of all, MAKE donates 10% of all sales to the We See Beauty Foundation, which supports women-led cooperatives. This feels so smooth and creamy going on! It is a purpley-pink shade that I like but it seems more like a spring and summer shade. It feels very good on the lips but it does not last through eating or drinking. Expect to reapply often.
