5 Faves October 2016

Here in Virginia, the weather is getting cooler and dryer. I have put away products that work in the heat and humidity and pulled out more moisturizing and nourishing products. I am focusing on hydration and skin care to get my skin ready for winter. You can see past favorites herehere, and here. I usually choose a combination of makeup. skin care, bath and body, and beauty tools. Whatever products seem to be what I reached for that month. This month I was especially loving these products:

Freeman Banana-Oat Instant Smoothing Mask – Whip up a little skin nourishment with our sensational facial smoothie! Deliciously-fragrant Banana-Oat blend smacks of softening ingredients for gorgeous skin. Highly active Alpha Hydroxy Acids rapidly exfoliate dull skin cells and reveal a softer, smoother, more radiant complexion. Antioxidant-rich Bananas nourish freshly exfoliated skin with minerals and antioxidants to keep bumpy skin issues away. Soothing Oat works double-time to nourish and keep skin calm, cool and collected. Perfect for all skin types. This mask is a pale yellow gel that does not dry on your face. It has a sweet smell that is a fake banana smell. You leave it on for 5-7 minutes and rinse with cool water.  This mask can cause burning and stinging. It leaves red patches on my face immediately after removal and does burn a bit. The next morning my face is so amazingly soft and smooth! I try to use this a few times a  month but cannot use it on nights I apply tretinion  (generic for Retin A ).

e.l.f. Pore Refining Brush and Mask Tool: The silicone spatula provides mess free application so you don’t waste product, while the pore cleansing brush helps to gently remove dirt and grease from pores. No need to worry about possibly transporting oil and bacteria from your hands onto your face with this tool. Spatula can also be used to apply foundation, and the brush for blending color to create a flawless and smooth finish. This is a very useful tool. I have used it for gel and clay masks and it does a great job. It keeps your fingers from getting mask all over them. I wish I had discovered this years ago.I have not tried the pore refining brush but I do love the mask tool. This is well worth the $5 price tag and was part of my recent  e.l.f. Haul.

Revive Turban Hair Towels – Gently dry hair faster with extra-absorbent Turban Hair Towels. Soft microfiber absorbs moisture to cut down on blow drying, while keeping hair up and away from the face. This was a 2 pack and it cost $6.99. I don’t blow dry my hair so that isn’t an issue for me. I just hate trying to keep a big bath towel wrapped around my hair while I put on makeup. This is much smaller and tighter so it should stay put.It is so much lighter on my head that it feels like nothing. The towel always felt so heavy and kept wanting to just fall off. I don’t think it dries my hair as much as a big towel but the lightness makes up for that.

CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser Bar – CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser Bar gently removes dirt, oil and makeup without disrupting skin’s natural protective barrier. Unlike any other cleansing bar, it also contains CeraVe Moisturizing Cream to hydrate and nourish so skin is left soft. In a clinical study, CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser Bar was shown to lock in moisture 3 times longer than the leading brand. Non-comedogenic, non-drying and non-irritating. With ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Fragrance free.  I started using this because my Clinique cleanser was too much with the tretinoin and made the flakiness worse. This is my morning cleanser and I am very happy with it. It gets my face clean without leaving it feeling dry and tight. I am not usually a fan of bar soap. It gets too messy but I am enjoying this one. I use it with my Konjac sponge so I get in some exfoliation. My flakiness has improved since I switched to this.

Olivia Care Organic Rose Water Face and Body Mist – Organic Rose Water is made from the intensely perfumed and many-petaled damask rose. Carefully selecting the best roses cultivated at high altitude plantations in the Himalayas, our rose water is sensitively produced from start to finish. Full of antioxidants and vitamins, rose water will instantly give dull skin a pick me up, and brighten up your mood! It can bring benefits to all skin types, it can help soothe and cool sensitive and irritated skin, balance and cleanse oily skin, help prevent aging by softening and toning mature skin, revitalize and add beautiful glow to the normal skin.Rose water also has natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial properties. It’s multipurpose use makes this a definite addition to any beauty routine! Suggested Uses: Refrigerate and mist throughout the day to freshen up skin and makeup. Use as toner or makeup remover by applying directly on skin or cotton pad. Pour a couple capfuls to running bath for a relaxing skin nourishing experience.  I have read a lot about the benefits of rose water and I wanted to try it. I love the smell of roses anyway and this smells so wonderful. In the morning I spray this on right before I apply my moisturizer. At night I spray some on right before bed to lock in my other products. I am loving this!

I don’t usually have a favorites with no makeup products but this month I have been focusing on transitioning my skin into the colder and dryer weather. Most of my faves this month have been about that goal.

What have you loved this month? Have you tried  any of my favorites?

  1. I love the sound of the e.l.f. Pore Refining Brush and Mask Tool! You can’t beat a bargain. I have recently bought the L’Oreal Clay Masks and this sounds like it would work with those really well!
