Makeup and Skin Care for Mature Skin

Rimmel lipsticks are one of my favorite brands. It is even better that they are an inexpensive drugstore brand. I have tried different formulas in their line and I will share my thoughts on them.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish By Kate Lipstick

This Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick comes from the model’s fall 2012 line. Featuring the brand’s exclusive black diamond pigment complex, Rimmel London Lasting Finish By Kate Lipstick  was created to last up to eight hours. This pigment lipstick also reflects light, so it brings color and depth to each individual shade.

I love this formula! I have it in several shades and love them all. You can purchase this for less than $6 at Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens or your local drugstore. It is nicely pigmented and very creamy. It glides on smoothly and dries down to a comfortable finish that holds up well.I have looked and looked and cannot find exactly how many shades it comes in. The shades do not have names, just numbers.

This is shade 17 and it is a pinky coral shade in the nude family.

It looks a little less shiny in person than it does in the close-up. It will work on many skin tones and works with many different looks. It is not my favorite shade in this line but I do like it. I apparently like it so much that I realized today that I have 2 tubes of it! That is the downside to having so many lipsticks.

Shade 08 is probably my favorite of the 3 shades I have. It is definitely neutral.

It has a hint of pink but is a “my lips but better” shade. I really like this shade. It works in all seasons and looks good with many different make up looks.

Shade 05 is deeper and has more red than shade 17.

This has a bluish undertone and is very bright. It has a nice satin finish. It is a very pretty color but I think it is more a spring/summer shade than fall/winter.

 

 

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate-  Matte 

Be Iconic – Make the Ordinary Extraordinary Sumptuously Rich Matte Colour with a sublime comfort. Ruby Powder enriched formula. Intense velvet colour all day!

This comes in 5 matte shades.It goes on thin and dries down to a more satin matte finish than a true matte finish. It stays comfortable and has decent staying power.

This is shade 104 and it is a pinky nude shade.

This is a “your lips but better” shade. It is not a deep shade but complements different skin tones and makeup looks. I really like this formula and would like to try another color if the shade range was not so limited.

I have this formula in 200 It’s  a Keeper. It is a rosy mauve shade that I really like.

This is a richer, creamier formula than the Lasting Finish but the shade is more sheer.. It has shine but not as sparkly as Lasting Finish. This does not dry down much but is long lasting. It is a nude shade that is versatile.

It looks like this formula comes in 12 shades and it is a varied shade range with lights and darks.

I have the shade Wish Upon a Berry. It is a pink berry shade.

I have mixed feelings about this. It goes on very thin and takes a while to dry. The tube is dual ended with the lip color on one end and a clear gloss on the other. Once the color dries you apply the gloss to lock it in and add shine. When the color dries it does stay. If you eat a greasy lunch it will rub off in spots. That is my issue with it. It feels and looks weird if you reapply the color over a layer that is on your lips. You have to apply over the old layer to touch up because this is almost impossible to remove! I have never had a lip product that would not come off with micellar water. Until this one. It doesn’t come off at all without using an oily makeup remover and even then it leaves some behind. I like a lip color that lasts but I want it to come off when I am ready to remove it.

I like the Rimmel lipstick lines. They have some nice shades and I have especially liked the Lasting Finish by Kate regular and matte. These are the ones I find myself reaching for over and over. They are comfortable with great lasting power.
