Blogmas #10 – Holiday Look with High End Products

I like to wear a festive look for holiday events. Red lipstick is a staple of my look during the holidays and I use it as my centerpiece. This look was created using mostly higher end products. There are  a few items that drugstore products are all I have so they are included. So let’s see what I used to create this look.

I got my face ready with Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. Get the benefits of primer, hydration and sheer radiance—in just 1 spritz! Created in our L.A. photo studio to wake up skin with electrolytes and restore moisture before—and during!—lengthy photo shoots, our enriched formula absorbs into skin for lasting hydration. When skin is hydrated, makeup looks better. I don’t use a primer all the time but I wanted to make sure my makeup lasted through the day.

After the primer, I applied Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Nude. Born This Way is an oil-free foundation that masterfully diffuses the line between makeup and skin. For coverage so undetectable, you can’t see the makeup and you can’t see imperfections—all that’s left is naturally radiant skin that looks like you were Born This Way. At $39 a bottle, this is the most expensive foundation I have ever owned. It was all the rage on YouTube last year and I bought into the hype. I have to be honest and say I don’t love it. I have to be careful that it doesn’t settle into my pores and give me the polka dot look. The color match is great for me though and the rest of my face looks nice with this foundation.

I concealed under my eyes and my hyperpigmentation with B00-Boo Cover-Up in Light.  Have a Boo-Boo? Skip the bandage and the shiny ointment. Look your best even while you heal with Boo-Boo Cover-Up for the Face and Body. Our innovative formula offers great coverage for skin imperfections while containing ingredients known in nature  to promote healing.Contains aloe, chamomile, green tea, tea tree oil and vitamin E. This is not the greatest concealer. It is thick and hard to blend and offers minimal coverage.

I used my Holy Grail setting powder Coty Airspun Loose Powder in Naturally Neutral.  This works so well that I have never felt the need to buy a more expensive product. It is finely milled and sets my makeup wonderfully. It doesn’t cling to dry patches or settle in fine lines. It is an all around great product.

Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in Medium Deep is my go-to contour. It works like a dream and blends in so well. I use this every day and have never found anything I like as well. For bronzer, I used Urban Decay Baked Bronzer in Gilded.

My blush and highlight came from the Balm Voyage Vol. II. I love this little palette. It comes with 9 eyeshadows, a bronzer, a highlighter, 2 powder blushes and 2 creams that can be used on lips or cheeks. I used the blush in the shade Dobrodosli and the highlighter in the shade kuwakaribisha.

I started my eyes with Wet n Wild Fergie Centerstage Collection Take On The Day Eyeshadow Primer.  This is my go-to eye primer . It is less than $5 and my eyeshadow lasts all day, every day. I created my eye look using the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette. I absolutely love this palette. It is such high quality. The shadows are pigmented and blend like a dream.

I always begin my eye look by applying my crease color. It helps me balance the look. I used the shade mocha in my crease and blended it up a bit toward my brow. To highlight my brow I used Satin Sheets. This also makes a nice highlight for your cheekbones. Mocha Chip is a shimmery golden brown that I used on  my lid. The dark Malted worked well to deepen my outer corners and as an undereye liner.

To line my upper las line I applied Kat Von D Tatoo Liner in Trooper. This is a wonderful eyeliner. It is a deep, opaque black. It stays tight all day long. It is even hard to remove when I am trying to get it off! The tip is wonderful for laying down a fine line.

I finished off the eyes with my favorite mascara The Supersizer by Lashblast Mascara in Very Black.  This is an amazing mascara. I like it so much that it was one of my 5 Faves . November 2016. It makes my lashes super thick and super long. You can’t ask for more and I like it as much as any high-end mascara.

I finished the look with the bright red lip. It is a Clinique sample in the shade Crimson. It is a creamy formula but it doesn’t bleed or feather. It is a perfect lip for the holiday season.

Do you try to create special looks for the holidays? Do you use red lipstick more this time of the year? What are some of your favorite shades? Brands?
