I got 2 sample size tubes (.06 oz each) with My Black Friday Purchases. One came in a End-of-Week Treats Sample Bag and I used points to get the other one. I wanted to try it and see what I thought and this gave me enough to get a good idea of how it works for me. My skin is normal with some dryness in the winter. I do use Tretinoin so I need to use gentle products.
Before trying this cleanser I had been using purity made simple by Philosophy as part of my P.M. Skincare Routine Fall. It is one of the best facial cleaners I have ever used and it was one of my 5 Faves in August. It was a gentle and effective cleanser and this Soy Cleansing Milk sounded just as gentle.
You are supposed to massage the cleanser into dry skin. I didn’t read that before using it the first time so I used it on a wet face. I didn’t see where it made much difference on a dry face. I do a double cleanse at night so I don’t rely on my cleanser to remove my makeup. It should be almost totally gone after I use a makeup remover. I cleanse to get the last traces of makeup off. I don’t want a harsh cleanser that will upset the balance of my skin.
This cleaner was a little thinner than the Purity. It had an earthy kind of smell. It was not unpleasant nor was it strong. It was a lotion-like consistency and did not lather at all. It rinsed leaving my face feeling clean and soft. My skin felt super soft even as I was rinsing this off. I did not expect to get such a thorough cleansing and such soft skin.
It did not break me out or irritate my skin. It is a very gentle cleanser that feels so nice on the skin. The consistency is very lotion-like and I am amazed that it rinses so clean. There is no slimy residue left behind. Just soft, smooth, clean skin.
It can be used on the eyes as well. That is what I love about the purity cleanser. It is so gentle that you can remove your eye makeup with it. Neither cleanser irritates my eyes at all. It is so nice to be able to get every lost bit of eye makeup off.
I was able to use it with my Clarisonic Mia and it worked well. The Mia helped get my face that extra bit cleaner. My face did not feel dry or tight after use. It felt clean and soft.
All in all, I really like this cleanser. It cleans as well as the purity made simple without irritating my eyes. I think it leaves my skin feeling so much softer while feeling really clean too. I don’t think I have ever used a cleanser that left my face so soft and so clean at the same time. The purity made simple gets my face clean and doesn’t dry it out. But I just don’t feel the same softness.
The big issue is that this Cleansing Milk is SO much more expensive! It is $38 for less than 7 oz. Purity is pretty pricey but you can get good deals when you catch it on sale. I got a 12 oz for $15 last Black Friday. This summer I took advantage of a Philosophy 1/2 off sale to get the 32 oz bottle for around $25. That will last well over a year.
Have you tried either of these? Which do you like best? Do you use something else you would recommend to me?

Lovely review! Oh, I never knew you had to use it on dry skin. I really enjoy the soy cleanser. It is very dependable for me. I know that nothing too bad will happen. 🙂
