Ipsy Bag January 2017

The theme for the January Glam Bag is Metropolis. The bag is a silver one that is inspired by skyscrapers. Ipsy is a monthly subscription service that is $10 per month. Each month you get a really cute makeup bag with 5 sample sizes of makeup, skincare, and /or haircare products. You can see what I received in past bags hereherehere,  here, and here. This month’s bag looks to be a good one. So, let’s see what I got:

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Paradise Blush – The warm pink with apricot undertones brightens up pale complexions, but also pops on darker skin…no small feat in the blush world. But even more so than the color, we can’t get enough of the radiant finish that’s just shimmery enough without looking crazy glittery. I have received other products from this company and have liked them. I have a lip product and a multi-use highlighter/eyeshadow and I use them both.I enjoy getting blushes and love trying new shades.

pur~lisse Blue Lotus Seed 5-in-1 mud mask + exfoliant – As a rule, mud masks can be well, messy, but this one makes you feel more like you’re at the spa than running a tough mudder. It also does about 10 million amazing things for your complexion (we’re talking brighten, detoxify, tighten, and soothe, all while gently exfoliating), thanks to a power combo of ingredients including blue lotus seeds, bamboo, white clay, ginger, and mushroom. This comes at the exact right time. I am in the midst of a month of using Asian skincare to see how it works for me. This fits in with that perfectly. Plus, I am always thrilled to get a new mask. I use a mask 3 times a week. You can check out my masking in the post Month of Masks – Fall.

TEMPTU Base Smooth & Matte Primer – We can admittedly get a little Goldilocks-esque when it comes to primer—finding them either too heavy or too greasy. But this one is just right, leaving our skin feeling silky smooth—without any residue—and definitely upping the staying power of our makeup. One swipe also tamps down shine and totally minimizes the look of any prominent pores.  I will try this out but I’m not a regular primer user. I just rarely see much benefit from using them other than to mattify. It just feels like an unnecessary layer of stuff on my face some days.

theBalm Cosmetics Bahama Mama – When you get back from a beach vaycay, your skin looks sun-kissed, not orange, right? Point being, any natural-looking bronzer is going to have brown undertones, and this one nails it. And since it’s matte, you can also use it to contour, as shadow, or to fill in brows. I am a fan of this brand so I’m looking forward to trying this out. Not that I need another bronzer but variety is nice. Right?!

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Anti-Aging Concealer – We didn’t think it could get any better than this brand’s original Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. Spoiler alert—it did. This guy has the same full-coverage and completely waterproof formula, but with a little bit of radiance that makes everything better, making it a must-have for early mornings or late nights. And forget the name, it works just as well covering up complexion imperfections as it does hiding dark circles. I am very excited to get to try this out! I am always on the look-out for a good under-eye concealer.

This is another good month from Ipsy. The only product that doesn’t thrill me is the primer. I am looking forward to trying everything out and see if any will be Best of the Boxes for January.
