January 2017 Empties

This month I went through fewer products than I have in the past few months. I knew it had to slow down at some point. There is only so much stuff that 1 person can use in a month! I did make some progress on using up some of the bath and body products taking up space in my linen closet. Read on to see what I used this month and what I thought about it.

BATH AND BODY

Mary Kay terme d isola Body Smoothing Scrub – Body smoothing scrub with the exclusive Mediterranean Complex, invigorates and exfoliates body skin for a silky, smooth skin. This is a discontinued line from Mary Kay. It was an ok scrub.

Deep Steep Peppermint Vanilla Argan Oil Body Lotion. I mentioned this and the body wash in a T.J. Maxx Haul post. You can see that post here . This is a very nice, moisturizing body lotion with a very pepperminty scent. It is easily absorbed into the skin when you put it on. It leaves a good peppermint scent that is not overpowering. I have been using this several times a week and I love the scent! It was also included in 5 Faves December 2016. This has been so wonderful to help make me feel awake and invigorated on these cold mornings.

Tutti Dolce Fantasia di Cioccola Moisturizing Souffle – this was part of a discontinued Bath and Body Works line. I don’t know why they discontinued this line. This is an amazing product. It smells good enough to eat. It smells like the best chocolate ever. It is also a nice body lotion. It melts into your skin and leaves it so soft. I was sad to finish it.

Deep Steep Peppermint Vanilla Argan Oil Body Wash – This is the shower gel that goes with the lotion mentioned above. I love this body wash so much. That amazing scent helps wake me up when I jump in the shower at 5:15 a.m. If the scent wasn’t enough it also makes your body tingle all over. I am going to miss this. If I can find other Deep Steep bath products at T.J. Maxx I will definitely try them out.

Avon Skin So Soft Winter Soft Hand Cream – with Vitamin E and shea butter this fast-absorbing cream moisturizes for over 24-hours. Even through the cold, and wind Wintersoft hand cream makes skin look and feel dramatically softer, smoother and more touchable. This is another great product in the Skin So Soft line. It is rich and absorbs so quickly leaving my hands so soft.

Ahava Mineral Hand Cream – A customer favorite! Mineral-rich cream specially formulated to protect hands and safeguard them from environmental and household damage. Instantly improves skin’s moisture level, smoothes rough, dry skin and restores suppleness. Witch Hazel extracts sanitize, and smoothes skin, providing a refreshing, revitalizing effect. Allantoin heals dry cracked skin and blemishes. I got a sample tube of this in some box or other. It is an amazing hand lotion that smells great. I love it but it is so expensive. A full-size tube sells for $23! I love my Avon Skin So Soft hand lotion so much and I get it for less than $5 a tube.

MAKEUP

CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara in Very Black – The Super Sizer by LashBlast Mascara gives you 400% more corner-to-corner volume for full, fanned out lashes. Our amazing Lash Styler transforms even small lashes— just twirl as you apply it to your lashes for an instantly Super Sized lash look. This is one of my all-time favorite mascaras ever! It gives so much length and volume. It never smudges or smears and wears all day.Not only was it one of my 5 Faves November 2016 but it was also a 2016 Favorites. I used it in Dewy Holiday Makeup Look and in Blogmas #10 – Holiday Look with High End Products. It is an amazing mascara and anyone who tries it will probably like it.

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer + Corrector – This 2-in-1 targeted concealer and corrector visibly reduces the look of dark circles, spots, and imperfections for better looking skin in just three weeks. Infused with ACTYL C, an ingredient known for its antioxidant benefits. I don’t think this has reduced the look of my dark spots but it does cover them well.I have repurchased this many times and am sure I will again. It conceals well and holds up all day.

e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set – Wish you could have a product for your makeup that’s like hairspray is for your hair? Well…keep your makeup staying in place all day with a radiance boosting invisible hold with our new Makeup Mist & Set. The invigorating mist moisturizes and soothes the skin with key ingredients Aloe, Green Tea, Cucumber and Vitamins A, C & E. The lightweight, comfortable and alcohol free formula improves makeup wearability and prevents color from running or fading. I use this every morning. I cannot say that it makes my makeup last longer but I think it makes it look better. It’s like it melds it all together.

Clinique Even Better Makeup – Wear oil-free, dermatologist-developed Even Better Makeup SPF 15 and something amazing happens: Without any makeup, see improved clarity, a more even skin tone, visibly diminished age spots. To be honest I can’t see that my age spots have been diminished. I love this foundation for the almost matte finish. It lasts all day and offers medium coverage. It looks good on the skin. I used it in my Blogmas #10 – Holiday Look with High End Products. It was also one of my 5 Faves January 2017.

SKINCARE

Malie Ultra Hydrating Essence Mask – A revitalizing & soothing essence facial mask. Contains Collagen Extract & Glycerin to intensely hydrate & soothe skin. Replenishes skin with nutrition & enhances its elasticity. Rich in active ingredients to form a protective coat on skin & prevent moisture loss. Leaves skin firm, soft, clean & healthy looking. These are sheet masks that have different ingredients. These are very nice masks. They are saturated with essence and fit well. The mask is a nice thick comfortable one. The scents are light and fresh and don’t linger. I use a mask 3 times a week.

Heimish All Clean Balm – Good for cleansing thick make-up , Hypoallergenic ingredients included for sensitive skin type. Balm Type Cleanser but when it touches water, the texture is changed to oil cleanser such as Sherbet type. This was a sample I received in a Beauty Beyond Borders subscription box. To see what kind of samples came in the 3B box see here, here, and here. I used this as part of a Month of Asian Skincare I liked this a lot! It removed every trace of my makeup and rinsed clean.

Studio 35 Beauty Facial Brightening Sheet Mask – this mask has fruit enzymes and bamboo extracts to smooth and illuminate. I got it at Walgren’s on sale for 4 for $5. It was a very dry mask and the essence was milky white rather than clear. It burned when I first put it on. I didn’t leave it on long but it was still basically dry when I removed it. I think it may have broken me out too. I won’t repurchase this one.

Rata & Co. New Zealand Naturals Rose Hip Face Mask – is a rich formulation containing the goodness of Rosehip Oil. Infused with Aloe Vera to nourish and moisturize, as well as Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate the skin, making lines less visible. Use as part of your skin care routine to give your face the extra nourishment and attention it deserves. This mask will gently warm your skin, enabling the powerful natural active ingredients to deliver optimum benefits to the skin, hence promoting a smoother and more radiant complexion. I bought a 5 pack of these in a T. J. Maxx Haul. This was another sheet mask with a milky white essence rather than a clear one. When I removed it the lotion was still just sitting n my face. I will try this again but I don’t think I like it very much.

V 10 Plus Serum – I received several varieties of this serum in a Beauty Beyond Borders box. This month I used the Vitamin A and Bio Cell samples. They both seemed like good serums. I wasn’t able to use them long enough to see if they delivered the promised benefits.

The Creme Shop Anti-Aging Egg Nog Sheet Mask – The next best thing to a time machine, for instantly younger skin, treat yourself to an egg white facial. Tightens skin by shrinking pores and correcting discolorations. This mask was part of a holiday collection from The Creme Shop. I got a 5 mask pack for $5.99. It is no secret that I am a mask junkie and always on the lookout for new masks to try. I have not used any egg-based skin products before so this was a new experience for me. After using this mask I can say that I really liked it! It was absolutely drenched with serum. There was so much left in the packet that I couldn’t use it all. My pores did look better. The bad news is this was a limited edition holiday release.

Aqua Nettoyant Perfect Balance Deep Hydrating Cleanser- This superb facial cleanser contains 23% of Amino Acids to power the most hydrating wash there is! Amino Acids are able to maintain high moisture level while cleansing thoroughly. Their fine foaming micro beads go into every pore to scour the deepest clogs, leaving your face feeling clean and smooth without feeling taut. AQUA NETTOYANT is formulated at a mildly acidic pH of 5.6 to match your skin’s pH so the cleanser is fully compatible with your skin! This sample came in a Beauty Beyond Borders box and was one of the Products for a Month of Korean Skincare. I enjoyed this cleanser. It made my face feel clean without drying it out.

I was very happy to finish up a body wash and 2 body lotions this month. I try to go through at least 2 bath and body products each month. So to fi hs 3 is a bonus. I finished up significantly more makeup products this month than usual. I am trying to finish up some of the foundations taking up space in my cabinet. So I can buy more!
