I subscribe to several beauty subscription services so I get a lot of products every month. I also watch a lot of YouTube and read a lot of beauty blogs. These help me know what products I simply must try. So, I end up with a bunch of things that just don’t work out. It doesn’t mean that they are all bad products, just that they didn’t work for me. I try to post about these quarterly and you can check those out here and here. Theses are the products I am passing on this quarter.
e.l.f. Glossy Gloss in Merry Cherry – there isn’t anything wrong with this at all. I just am not a huge lip gloss fan. This is a thick, shiny lip gloss with a sheer wash of color. If you like gloss this might work well as a topper to a lipstick.
Bellapierre Kiss Proof Lip Creme in Rose Petal – Bellapierre Kiss Proof Lip Crèmes are full coverage, high impact liquid lipsticks that last for hours without the need to touchup. Their creamy formula goes on smoothly and dries to a beautiful matte finish in a snap! This came in my November Boxycharm. It is a beautiful neutral rose shade. I did like that. And only that. It went on feeling thick and gloppy. It took forever to dry down and stayed tacky forever. It looked patchy after it dried and wore off in an ugly way. I don’t like this at all.
L.A. Girls Glazed Lip Paint in Pin-Up – this is even thicker and shinier than the e.l.f. lip gloss. It ran outside my lip line almost as soon as I applied it.I also got it all over my teeth every time I used it. I have too many lip products that I like to hold on to this.
Collagen Filler Eye Revitalizer – I picked this up fairly cheaply in either Ross or TJMaxx. I get a lot of my skincare products at those stores because they have a huge collection for good prices. I am always looking for a good eye cream and this was not it. It actually left my eyes looking extra dry at the end of the day. That is not what I am looking for in an eye cream.
Argan Essence Facial RoseHip and Jojoba Oil. This astonishing Facial RoseHip Oil, Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Sweet Almond Oil is packed with antioxidants and vitamins to help reduce the appearance of dark spots, fine lines & wrinkles, boost skin’s moisture, and improve overall complexion. This was part of my Vacation Beauty Buys and this is another TJMaxx find. I like to add an oil to my skincare routine in the winter and this looked like a good one to try. I have tried other argan oil products and enjoyed them. I have tried to incorporate rose oil in my routine so this seemed a perfect oil. Unfortunately, my skin doesn’t like this at all. It broke out almost as soon as I started using it. I am hoping it will work for my mom.
Pure Cosmetics Buff Collection Eyeshadow Palette – This has 12 shadows and is basically a dupe for the Naked 3 palette. It is decent quality and is a fairly good dupe. I just already have so many shades in this palette that I really did not need this. It came in my Boxycharm December 2016. I gave this to my nephew’s girlfriend for Christmas.
OFRA Metallic Liquid Lipstick in Napa Valley – OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick is a one step full lip color that does not feather. The creamy and soft texture moisturizes your lips while creating a long lasting lipstick effect. Contains antioxidants and vitamin E. I am not a huge fan of Ofra lipsticks. I find them drying and they wear off in a very patchy way. This is a deep, deep purple shade that is not something you could wear to work. I have trouble imagining wearing this shade anywhere. It just isn’t for me. I gave this to my niece for Christmas. It looks like a shade she would wear and enjoy. This was another item from my December Boxycharm.
This quarter seemed to be about lip products. Part of that is because I am forever buying new lip products that catch my eye. I have only been wearing lipstick for a year and a half so I am still learning what colors and formulas work best for me.
I am always searching for great skincare products. I like to try new things to see what works best for my skin. Especially now that my skin gets normal in colder weather and needs more hydration. I have 2 separate skincare routines – 1 for cold weather and 1 for warm weather. Some work out and some don’t.
So these are the products that didn’t work for me during the winter months. It was actually fewer products than I expected. I will give my mom the skincare products and offer her the lip products but she may pass on them. The eyeshadow palette and Ofra lip product made great Christmas presents for my niece and nephew’s girlfriend.
What do you do with your product fails? Do you pass them on to friends and family? Or just trash them? What have you tried recently that just wasn’t for you?

If it is a product that I can sanitize after I’ve used it, I put it in my box of shame and let my little sisters go at it every few months. If I can’t sanitize it (mascaras, liquid lipsticks, etc.), I throw it away. It makes me sad every time.

I pass it on to my mom and let her try it out. The liquid lipstick and palette were untouched so they were fine to give as gifts. I could tell that deep purple lip color would not work on me. The palette just looked enough like other palettes I have that I put it straight back in the box after I looked at it. I can’t bring myself to just throw stuff away if anyone I know might want to try it.
