Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription that is $10 per month. You receive 4-5 samples or deluxe samples each month. You get makeup, skincare, haircare, bath and body, perfume, or beauty tools. Birchbox has 3 choices each month. You can choose a specially curated box and you know exactly what is in it. The 2nd choice is to choose 1 of your samples from 3-5 choices. The final choice is to let them create the box based on your profile. I have chosen each option at one time or another. This month I chose to get products based on my profile. You can see what I typically get in my boxes here, here, here, here, and here. This month just looks to be ok. It has a couple of hair care products and I just don’t use them that much. Read on to see what was in my box this month.
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré (24-Hour Miracle Cream) – Take a peek in any makeup artist’s kit and you’ll spy a well-loved tube of Embryolisse’s cult Lait-Crème Concentre. This velvety, quick-absorbing moisturizer gives skin the ultimate silky finish, thanks to generous amounts of soothing shea butter and aloe vera. Plus, it doubles as a makeup remover, post-shave soother, and all-over body lotion. Who says beauty isn’t practical? This looks like an interesting product but it’s hard to imagine how it can do so many different things. Reviews on the Birchbox site say that it is greasy so it may not work for me.
Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35+ – This next-generation CC cream takes corrective coverage to a whole new level. Lightweight and easy to blend, the fragrance-free formula acts as both a primer and a foundation. It smooths fine lines and uneven skin, plus it provides SPF protection against UVA, UVB, and infrared-A rays. Light-diffusing mica minerals soften the appearance of pores and wrinkles for a fresh, flawless complexion. What’s more, this all-in-one velvety cream comes in a range of self-adjusting shades to suit a variety of skin tones. This is easily the product that I am most looking forward to trying. I like a good CC cream, especially in the summer. The extra SPF helps and I wear lighter makeup since most of it will sweat off anyway! This gets great reviews on the Birchbox site.
Manna Kadar Cosmetics Lip Locked in Sienna – On busy mornings (aka almost every morning), we prefer a routine that’s as brief and streamlined as humanly possible. This triple-threat lip treatment from Manna Kadar eliminates the need to use multiple products, since it’s a primer, stain, and gloss in one. The paraben-free formula—rich in vitamins A and E to keep lips soft—delivers a long-lasting, vibrant hue that will easily take you from a.m. to p.m. I have one of these in the shade Lucky that I got in my very first BoxyCharm. It is an ok product but I have never seen that it works as a stain. To be fair Lucky is a very neutral shade that is close to my lip color. It is a thick cream that isn’t super shiny. I ended up receiving 2 of these in my box. It looks a lot like the Lucy shade I already have. It is a nude shade that is close to the color of my lips so I can’t really tell how well it works as a stain.
R+Co OUTER SPACE Flexible Hairspray – Set your style—without getting stuck with the same look all day—with this versatile spritz. It’s what stylists call a “working spray”—meaning it adds hold to your ‘do, but still easily restyles to let you lock in your next look too. It’s made with styling polymers for flexible hold and pro-vitamin B5 to condition hair and add volume. You can spritz it on frequently without any buildup—so you can switch up your look as often as you’d like. I never use hairspray so I will pass this on to someone who does.
Obliphica Professional Seaberry Mask – Medium to Coarse – Conditioning products don’t need to be heavy to transform locks. Just take this antioxidant-rich seaberry mask, for instance. The superfruit-infused treatment is a powerful hydrator, nourishing and moisturizing from scalp to ends and leaving hair softer, shinier, and smoother. You’ll love it so much that you’ll want to use it every day—and thanks to its lightweight formula, you can. Oh goody, another haircare product. I will use this but I don’t do much to my hair. I have naturally curly hair that I just wash and wear most days. I don’t use a lot of products on it.
This was just another Birchbox that underwhelmed me. The CC Cream is the only sample I am remotely excited to try. It really may be time to cancel Birchbox. If next month is as bad it will be hard to justify continuing with it. We shall see.
I was unhappy with Birchbox all around this month. My box got lost in the mail so I didn’t even get it until March 1. They did try to make up for it by throwing in an extra Manna Kadar lip product.Of course, they were both the same shade. There were 2 different shades this month and it would have been nice to get the other shade too. One of the lippies will go into my It’s Not You, It’s Me pile to give to my mom or friends to try.
