Best of the Boxes March 2017

I subscribe to Ipsy, Birchbox, and Boxycharm. I used to subscribe to Beauty Beyond Borders but they stopped last month. 😣 I get Target beauty boxes occasionally and I get the quarterly Walmart Beauty Box. Each month I pick out the items that I like best from each box. This was not one of the best months for my boxes!

My Ipsy March 2017 bag was pretty decent this month. Two items from that bag made my Best of the Boxes for this month.

Doucce Freematic Eyeshadow in Marisa – The shimmery rose color may look more like a blush, but is insanely pretty on lids. Try it alone (just add a little mascara) for a daytime look or with winged out liner for girly-glam vibes. We heart dual-purpose powders! This one goes on dry for a more natural and subdued effect or wet for amped up drama. Our Creators are obsessed with how this powder formula glides right on without caking or creasing. I got a blush by Doucce in Ipsy Bag November 2016 and loved it enough to make it a Best of the Boxes November 2016. And now I like this enough to include it in the Best of the Boxes this month. It is a beautiful color that glides on and looks perfect with my green eyes. The best part, though, is that it has magnets on the bottom so it can go in a Z-palette! That is great since it is a smaller sample that would be difficult to work with otherwise. I may need to check out more Doucce products since the first 2 have been so good.

Elizabeth Mott Blending Brush – The synthetic bristles are not only cruelty-free, they’re super durable. Translation: won’t shed all over the place. These same bristles also are perf for applying and smudging cream shadows, since they won’t absorb too much product. Whether for your crease or outer corners, it’s choice for creating smokey, smudgy, sexy looks. This brush is going to be a good addition to my collection. The bristles are soft and fluffy and it blends quite well. I can see getting a lot of use out of this one. It is a really nice brush and I am in love with it.

Boxycharm usually has multiple items each month that make this post and Boxycharm March 2017 is no exception. It included a cult favorite and a sweet little eye palette.

Smashbox Photofinish Primer – This is the first product we created at Smashbox Photo Studios L.A. We developed it to help makeup look better and last longer on set. It’s still our bestselling product and the best way to start your makeup every day. It instantly blurs fine lines and pores, leaving skin with a velvety-smooth, even finish that’s perfect for makeup application. I haven’t tried this yet but I’m counting it a Best of the Boxes because I am happy to get the chance to try it out. It is a deluxe sample size so I will get a lot of use to see how it works for me.

Naked Cosmetics Urban Rustic Palette – These colors offer a dramatic look when applied damp or with an eye base. The colors have hints of green, bronze, purple, and brown. These are very pretty, shimmery shadows. This is not a stand alone palette by any means but it can be used with more neutral shades to make some good looks. I have used the maroon-purple shade a few times now and I like it. It is close in color to the Doucce from my Ipsy bag but it is darker. These colors will be perfect for fall. although I will get use out of the green in the spring and summer.

I haven’t had a chance to try out everything from Birchbox March 2017. The couple items I did try out were just ok. This month I just wasn’t excited by my Birchbox.

Do you get any beauty subscriptions? What did you love this month? Did you get my favorites? Did you like them?
