Makeup and Skin Care for Mature Skin

I asked for cash for my birthday so that I could go to Ulta and Sephora and shop. I have to drive about 40 minutes to get to the mall that has both Ulta and Sephora so I don’t go often. We made a day of it and I enjoyed shopping. I especially wanted to go to Sephora so I could get my birthday reward.

I looked and looked in Sephora but I just have so much makeup that it was hard to decide what I needed. I finally decided on Buxom Lip Plumping Persuasion that was $18. A limited-edition, duo with a semi-matte, liquid lipstick and bestselling sheer, shimmering gloss in mini sizes.  Flaunt dramatic, bolder lip looks with this duo of alluring, lip-plumping shades. The creamy, semi-matte, lightweight Wildly Whipped™ Lightweight Liquid Lipstick leaves lips soft and supple. The bestselling sheer, shimmering Full-On™ Lip Polish gives lips a plumped appearance and delivers a refreshing tingling sensation. The gloss was in the shade Sandy and the liquid lipstick in the shade Wandress. I like the liquid lipstick but I LOVE the lipgloss. It looks good paired with any number of my lipsticks.

My birthday gift at Sephora was a Tarte mini set with  Tarteist™ Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Birthday Suit. Paint on pigment to create a tarteist™ lip masterpiece with this chic, creamy matte liquid lipstick. Then it was on to Ulta to see if I could spend more of the birthday money burning a hole in my pocket! I was especially looking at skincare products. As I mentioned above, I already have so much makeup that it is getting hard to justify buying more. I was super excited to see that Ulta carries Skinfood. This is a South Korean company that has skincare and cosmetics.

Being a mask addict I was immediately drawn to Black Sugar Strawberry Mask Wash Off.  A facial mask that contains mineral rich organic black sugar, along with strawberry and strawberry seed oil. It applies smoothly on skin and leaves it fresh, clean and fragrant with a strawberry scent. Black Sugar is enriched with vitamins and minerals to hydrate and nourish skin.  I am looking forward to trying this! Look for a future review on a Mask Monday.

I also had to get Black Sugar Honey Wash Off Mask because I love skincare that contains honey. A mask wash off featuring organic Black Sugar granules for exfoliation and rich Manuka honey that softens skin for a clean, smooth complexion. Black Sugar is enriched with vitamins and minerals to hydrate and nourish skin. There will also be a review on this at some point as well. These masks were $11.50 for a 3.25 oz. jar.

The Body Shop body butters were on sale so my son bought me the British Rose Instant Glow Body Butter. Indulge in dewy hydration with The Body Shop British Rose Instant Glow Body Butter with glow enhancing rose essence. Beautifully pearlescent, this velvety-soft moisturizer is light to the touch but rich on moisture. Non-sticky and perfect for normal to dry skin, formulated with light reflecting pearls to give you an instant all-over healthy looking glow, and subtly scented skin that’s hydrated for up to 24 hours. I love the scent of roses so I had to have this. I will likely review it at some point as well. I only about 1/2 way through my big tub of Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter so it will be a while before I can get into this.

I did purchase 2 makeup products at Ulta. Essence was having a buy one get one 1/2 off sale and I needed an eyebrow gel.  I picked up the Lash & Brow Gel Mascara. Put an end to unruly eyebrows! The lash & brow gel mascara pampers your eyebrows as well as your lashes to get them back into perfect shape.

So, I had to get a 2nd Essence product to get the sale price. I had seen and read some good reviews on their eyeshadows so I got the All About Nudes Eyeshadow Palette. All about.. beautiful eyes! Gorgeous Essence All About Nudes Eyeshadow Palette with eight complementing, buildable colors and multiple finishes; satin, matte and metallic effects. Not tested on animals. This is a very affordable – $5.49 – palette that is good quality. I have used it and you can make nice, subtle nude looks that are perfect for work.

Finally, my aunt gave me a pretty little jar of homemade scrub. It is lemon peppermint scented and very moisturizing. It is too oily to use in the shower so I am using it for my hands.

I am very pleased with my birthday haul. Especially the Tarte set from Sephora. I have used the blush over and over. I am in love with it! I really like the liquid lipstick too.
