I subscribe to Ipsy, Birchbox, and Boxycharm. I also get the quarterly Walmart Beaut Box and order the monthly Target Beauty Box more months than not. I don’t always get to try all the samples the same month that I get the box. Sometimes I will include a sample from a box that I got months ago.
This month was not a great month for beauty boxes. There was no one item that totally wowed me. I will start with Walmart Spring 2017 Beauty Box Trendsettert . There were a couple of good samples in it.
Rimmel Stay Matte Lightweight Liquid Mousse Foundation – A feather light, oil free formula with an airy mousse texture that won’t feel heavy or greasy. Delivers all day shine control and blends flawlessly for a natural looking matte finish. Minimizes the appearance of pores. The weight is over – finally, shine has met its matte. I liked this sample so much that I used the coupon that came in this box to buy a full size. This was the best of Best of the Boxes this month. See the full review here.
Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Conditioner – What It Does: Replenishes moisture and repels frizz. This formula, with vital nutrients & silk protein, creates a barrier to help seal in essential hydration and lock out style-ruining moisture. I have liked every Frizz Ease product I have tried so I am looking forward to trying this out. It will be perfect for the hot, humid summer months.
Birchbox has been subpar of late. Birchbox April 2017 was a good one but I did choose the curated box so I knew what I was getting. I am pleased or looking forward to 3 of the samples.

Typically, Boxycharm is awesome month after month and many Best of the Boxes products come from that box. Boxycharm April 2017 is the exception! I was disappointed and nothing rates as a best.
I was also disappointed with Ipsy April 2017. Some of the products might have been good if they hadn’t been way too dark or way too light. Nothing from my bag this month is good enough to really use, let alone be a “best of” anything.
