I received the Dead Sea Wash Off Mask in my Ipsy Bag October 2016 and have used it a few times since getting it. I mentioned it in both Month of Masks – Fall and Month of Masks – Beauty Subscription Masks. I have used it enough to form a pretty solid opinion of it. It was the first mask I used for #MaskaDayinMay. For reference, my skin is basically normal with shine in warm weather. My concerns are aging, sunspots, fine lines, and wrinkles.
Global Beauty Care Dead Sea Wash Off Mask – Global Beauty Care Dead Sea Wash Off Mask is formulated with a unique blend of salts & minerals from the Dead Sea in Israel. This gentle mud treatment draws out dirt and impurities from your skin and peels away dead skin cells. Helps to restore elasticity and fortify the skin with essential moisturizers Stimulates and beautifies your skin and body. Deep cleansing formula is good for all skin types.
INGREDIENTS: Aqua (water), Diatomaceous Earth, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Maris Sal (Dead Sea Salt), Algin, Dimethicone, Glycoproteins, Beta-Glucan, Cetyl Alcohol, Betaine, L-Ascorbic Acid, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, DMDM Hydantoin, Parfum, Carbon Black.
TO USE: Thoroughly clean and dry your skin. Open sachet and massage a generous amount of mud treatment evenly over face, neck and body area, avoiding eyes and lips. Leave on for approximately 15 minutes or until dry. Gently rinse off mud with water and remove any residue.
The mask is black and has a mud-like consistency. It has a firm texture that spreads evenly and smoothly over the skin. I apply with my e.l.f. mask tool and it makes it so easy. It has a light, mild scent but I cannot put my finger on what it smells like. It is a pleasant scent that is faintly marine. I did not need to use a lot of product to totally cover my face with a thin, even layer.
I left the mask on for about 20 minutes and my cheeks were not totally dry. For some reason, it takes most masks forever to dry on my cheeks! The Dead Sea Wash Off Mask does not dry down hard. It stays very flexible and doesn’t feel tight on my face at all. There is no burning or stinging on application.
My issue with this mask is the mess it makes. It turns the water gray when rinsed off and it left a filmy feeling on my lips. It also makes an unholy mess of the washcloth that I use to remove it and it doesn’t just rinse out either. I think it may leave slight stains on my washcloth even after I wash it. That is something of a deal breaker for me. I prefer skincare products that rinse clean.

It is bad enough that it makes such a mess when you rinse it off. What is worse is that it doesn’t rinse clean from my skin either. The picture doesn’t do justice as to how much gunk it left on my face. I rinsed thoroughly and would not expect to have all that left behind. Granted my face felt smooth and soft afterward but still that cannot be good for pores.
As I mentioned above, I have used this multiple times and found it ok the first few times. After using toner on a cotton ball after removing the mask I don’t like it as much now. I probably have another use in the packet and I’m not sure I will finish it.
The mask doesn’t do anything amazing to my skin. With all the mess on my washcloth, in my sink, and on my face it hardly seems worth it. I guess I could rinse for several minutes but why? I have masks that do so much more with no mess. This one simply isn’t worth it for me.
Have you tried this mask? Were your experiences similar to mine? Do you have any mask suggestions for me
