Ipsy June 2017

Ipsy is a monthly subscription service that is $10 per month. It contains 5 sample, deluxe sample, or a rare full sized product in each bag. It tends to contain more makeup products and tools. You can see what I have received in past bags here,  here,  here and here and here.

The theme this month is Volume Up. It is all about fearlessly expressing yourself and standing up for what you believe. Let’s see what is in my bag this month.

NYX Professional Makeup Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé  – You’ll Love It This pretty little two-timer can be used on your lips AND cheeks—perfect for the matchy matchy monochromatic look we keep seeing everywhere! The whipped formula is so featherlight that it feels like nothing (but looks like a million bucks). We’re obsessed with how this yummy pop of color instantly brightens up our entire complexion. This sounds like an odd product. I have trouble imagining how the same product can be a good lip product and a good bush. We shall see.

theBalm Cosmetics Balm Springs Blush – Aside from making us lol with its cheeky name (which has us dreaming of a desert vacay), we’re obsessed with this crazy beautiful, rosy blush shade that looks amazing on all skin tones. It’s SO long-wearing that it literally lasted from brunch to blind date without fading. (That’s like, 12 hours if you’re counting.) I like the Balm but their samples are always so ridiculously tiny that they are hard to even use. I hope this one isn’t doll size.

Hey Honey Uncover Detoxifying Mud Mask – Detoxifying. Stimulating. Clarifying. Refining. Soothing. Cleansing. Clearly when it comes to multitasking, this sweet-smelling mask goes above and beyond. It’s made with an amazing cocktail of Dead Sea black mud, honeysuckle, aloe, and Propolis ( We googled it so you don’t have to: “Propolis: an exotic compound produced by bees thought to fight infections, heal wounds, and more.) Acne-causing bacteria? Bye. This mask clears away ALL the junk, leaving your skin clean, gorgeous, and glowy AF. This month I found out that Ipsy has a sample choice program and I choose this sample. I have used Hey Homey products in the past and have liked them a lot. And I love masks in general!

City Color Cosmetics Shimmer Shadow  – Feeling hot, hot, hot? Us too! And these high-voltage shimmer shadows are our #1 pick for turnt up summer vibes. The shimmer-flecked formula is super velvety and insanely blendable, so you can use it for literally anything from a dreamy wash of color to a chic, colorful cat eye. We die for the intense, heavy metal finish, which would look AH-MAZE at a festival or outdoor concert (just sayin’)! I am not the biggest fan of single eyeshadows. It’s just so much easier to use a palette.

PÜR Mini Fully Charged Magnetic Mascara – The super-scientific formula is made out of magnets, so it latches onto every single lash (like a magnet!) to strengthen, thicken, and lengthen. We’re not making this up. The magic wand separates and fans out your lashes, so they look EXTRA fluttery and defined. It’s also amaaaazing for adding some maj definition to lower lashes. And because we know every last lash counts, we’re happy to report that our new fave formula also conditions and prevents lash loss. I am not a fan of samples sized mascara. The wands are just so awkward to use. This doesn’t thrill me either.

I’m just not feeling Ipsy this month. The mask is the only product that I am looking forward to at all. How disappointing. Luckily, I am happy with my Ipsy bags more often than not. This is just one of the rare meh months.

Do you subscribe to Ipsy? What did you get this month? Were you happy with it? If you want to try it out I would appreciate your using my link.  I get points if you do. I have had my subscription for about 2 years and I think it is a pretty good deal overall. I like a lot of what I receive and love getting to try new things.

If you enjoyed this post please “like” it and follow me to make sure you don’t miss any posts. Thanks so much for stopping by. I appreciate that you took the time to check out my blog.

  1. Ipsy tends to have more makeup items and Birchbox more skincare. I used to love Birchbox but the last few months have been disappointing. Ipsy tends to be good more months than not. Thanks for reading!
