Empties July 2017

Wow! I had my smallest Empties ever. I didn’t use up much at all this month. It was mostly hair care and skin care. The hair care was due to using up some samples. Skincare is just because I mask so much and use a lot of different products on my face. Read on to see what I used and if I liked it.

Hair Care

Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo – Everything old is new again—including the ingredients in Oribe’s Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo. The formula blends centuries-old healing oils and extracts with modern technology to rejuvenate and strengthen damaged locks from the inside out. Every wash revitalizes tired hair, returning it to a healthier, younger state, and simultaneously shields tresses from future damage. This is a foil packet sample that has 2-3 uses in it and I got it and the conditioner in my Birchbox June 2017. I have never found Oribe products to be worth the crazy price they tend to be. An 8.5 oz bottle of this sells for $49! I liked it but won’t buy a full size.

Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Conditioner – This conditioner combines time-honored healing oils and extracts with modern technology to rejuvenate and protect tired, damaged hair. The ultra hydrating formula reverses damage (all of that styling and sunning was bound to catch up with us) le leaving behind a softer, more glossy mane. This was a nice conditioner but costs way more than I am willing to spend.

Curl.life By Matrix Defining System Contour Milk  – Curl.life™ Professional Defining System’s Patented technology combines moisture and control to define a consistent, frizz-free curl pattern. Curl.life™ Contouring Milk defines as it boosts body and shine. For normal to fine hair. Provides lightweight moisture for lasting definition and frizz control. I have had this forever! It has a nice scent and did make my curls look softer. I may repurchase at some point. I just have so many hair care samples to get through first.

Biolage Hydrasource Shampoo and Conditioning Balm – Quench dry, thirsty hair with state-of-the-art formulas inspired by nature that mimic the moisture-retaining properties of the Aloe Plant. Hair’s hydration levels are optimized through the absorption and retention of moisture. I picked this up when I got my hair cut. I used to use Biolage hair products but haven’t in years. These had a fabulous scent! They worked well and I may buy full sized products at some point.

Hairgurt by Project  Beauty Hairgurt Smoothing Yogurt Shampoo – Wondering when your hair got a mind of its own? Try this creamy, rich shampoo with Yogurt, Prebiotics, Quinoa, 6 Botanical Oils and Bio-Keratin to help tame frizzy dry hair. Free of sulfates, parabens, harsh salt systems, harmful colors, and harmful fragrances. I received this full sized shampoo in my Boxycharm April 2017. It was an ok shampoo that smelled like fruit. I don’t see that it did anything special to my hair. I would not repurchase.

Skincare

Llang Self Clinic 3 Step Kit Pore Control Sheet Mask – Self Clinic 3 Step Kit Pore Control is a celebrity’s secret 3-step pore self-care solution that helps her stay beautiful during her hectic life and long flights. I am working on a review of this mask. Spoiler alert – I LOVE it!

DERMA-E Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask – deeply detoxifies skin of harmful micropollutants in two ways: (1) Natural clays infused with Kimarine® Wakame, Bladerwrack and Activated Charcoal lift out dirt, oil and bacteria to decongest pores as the mask dries; (2) Apricot Seed Powder exfoliates away dead skin cells and captured debris upon removal. Kaolin and Bentonite Clays absorb excess oils and impurities, relieving skin congestion. I received this sample in the Birchbox April 2017. I like this mask and you can see why in DERMA-E Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask review.

The Creme Shop Anti-Aging Egg Nog Sheet Mask  – The Creme Shop Anti-Aging Egg Nog Sheet Mask. See The Creme Shop Anti-Aging Egg Nog Sheet Mask Review for my full thoughts.

Feel Brilliant Bamboo Charcoal Facial Mask  – Of all the so-called “detoxifying” ingredients out there, the one we are most excited about is charcoal. It’s “absorbent enough to pull all the gunk you don’t want, like pollution and dirt, out of pores,” says cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson. But (and there’s always a but) here’s the thing: Charcoal needs a little bit of time to do its best work. That’s why sheet masks are an ideal way to get it in contact with your skin. This one is also saturated with hyaluronic acid, so it doesn’t leave your face feeling tight and dry. This came in the Allure Beauty Box July 2017. I mask 3 times a week and try to use a sheet mask at least once a week. I liked this one.

ORIGINS Modern Friction Nature’s gentle dermabrasion – We never used to look forward to scrubbing, but all that changed when we found this natural exfoliating cleanser. It keeps skin looking fresh and smooth without the irritation of other sloughs. The star ingredient is rice starch, which binds with water molecules to banish dirt and dead skin. I received this sample in the Birchbox November 2016. I am working on a full review so stay tuned.

Makeup

TEMPTU Base Smooth & Matte Primer – We can admittedly get a little Goldilocks-esque when it comes to primer—finding them either too heavy or too greasy. But this one is just right, leaving our skin feeling silky smooth—without any residue—and definitely upping the staying power of our makeup. One swipe also tamps down shine and totally minimizes the look of any prominent pores. This sample came in the Ipsy Bag January 2017. This was a good primer. I don’t know if I would repurchase or not. I like to try new primers in my quest for the perfect one for me.

L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer Pencil in Brunette – Ultra-fine Tip Mechanical Pencil and Spoolie Draws Tiny Brow Hairs Precisely Defines and Easily Blends. Waterproof. Brow Stylist® Definer makes the art of the brow easy. Easily start shaping or filling in eyebrows with this ultra-fine tip brow pencil – a perfect tool to draw tiny hairs and shape brows for a well-defined look. This mechanical and retractable pencil with spoolie brush for combing and blending makes it easy to style your eyebrow makeup. I love how this works and included it in my 5 Faves May 2017. My issue is that the tip broke off twice and I wasted a lot of product. I don’t know if I just got a bad pencil or they are all like that. I have repurchased so we shall see.

Bath and Body

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub – Soap & Glory’s cult-classic Sugar Crush™ Body fuses freshly-squeezed sweet lime, sparkling lemons, sweet vanilla musk and almond oil, with sea salt, smashed brown sugar, glycerin and macadamia oils to leave your skin feeling smooth, supple, and sexy. Miraculous on dry legs, elbows (really – all over), it’s energizing, exhilarating, amazing! I liked this and it had a good scent. I shared my full thoughts in Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub.

Bath & Body Works Pleasures Peony Creamy Body Wash – Infused with real peony extract. Fresh peony blends with luscious rose in this beautiful and feminine interpretation of a classic floral fragrance. This is a discontinued scent that was part of my huge stash of bath and body products. Peonies are my favorite flowers and you can smell the peony in this body wash. I enjoyed it.

Bath & Body Works Pleasures Peony Body Cream – this is the lotion that goes with the peony body wash. I have met my goal of finishing at least 2 items from my bath and body stash. Yippee!
