My Secret Diary Sqaulene Restorative Mask

I received this sheet mask in my last Beauty Beyond Borders box in February. The packaging is just too cute! I know that squalene is in a lot of anti-aging products so I was looking forward to trying it out. For reference, my skin is normal with some shine in warm weather. My skin concerns are pigmentation, fine lines, and some wrinkles. My skin is not especially sensitive or reactive.

What it is:
The selected skin repairing ingredient, Squalene, has a small molecular size that works in conjunction with the double hydrating ingredients Cosphingo™ x Aquaroute™ for easily absorbed by the skin.

What it does:
It nourishes damaged, dry skin, creating a moisture-locking barrier that prevents the loss of moisture from your skin. As a result, your skin feels rejuvenated and reveals a supple, translucent, and radiant texture after restoration.

What else you need to know:
Illuminating and Hydrating Hydrating and revitalizing ingredients such as marine Glycoprotein and Vitamin E fully hydrate skin to enhance their protection against external pollutants, transforming coarse, dull skin to brilliant skin that emanates charming radiance.

The Secret Diary Mask has a light, sweet scent. The mask had a plastic backing that had to be peeled off to apply. It was only on 1 side rather than the mask being in between 2 sheets. It had a lot of serum but the serum was a very thin, liquid consistency. The mask itself was the oddest texture of any mask I have used. It was much thinner and felt like paper.

It was also the smallest sheet mask I have ever used. It barely covered my entire face and the eye, nose, and mouth holes were small. They did not line up with my eyes, nose, or mouth well at all.

I applied the mask over cleansed and toned skin. I waited for 2 hours after using tretinoin so it would absorb. I also like to put on my regular serums under sheet masks. This gives them extra time to be absorbed into my skin. I covered the mask with a silicone mask cover and left it on for 45 minutes. The silicone cover keeps the mask in place and pressed against my skin. It literally helps press the serum into my skin.

When I removed the mask there was still a lot of serum on my face. I massaged this into my face, neck, and chest. It felt sticky even after massaging it in. I put my moisturizer over the serum but it still felt sticky. After about an hour it started to feel like it was absorbing.

I was not overly fond of how sticky the serum made my face. It did hydrate my face but that was all. I did not see any radiance at all. I didn’t love this mask. I don’t see purchasing more of this one. It is just an ok mask that might have worked better for my normal skin in the winter.

Have you tried this mask? Did you like it? What are your favorite sheet masks?
