I subscribe to Ipsy, Birchbox, Boxycharm, Allure, and Walmart beauty subscriptions. Every month I like to share what I consider the best samples I received that month. Some months are better than others. Read on to see what I loved this month.
There were a couple of samples in Allure Beauty Box July 2017 that I have tried and liked or am really looking forward to trying.
Cargo Swimmables Water Resistant Blush in Bali – Cheek color won’t streak or fade; it’s sweat-proof and weatherproof! Silky powder formula glides over the skin for a subtle wash of color. The sheer powder is buildable for a customized look. This is a beautiful shade. The formula is not dry or chalky. This blush will likely go to the beach with me.
Feel Brilliant Bamboo Charcoal Facial Sheet Mask – Of all the so-called “detoxifying” ingredients out there, the one we are most excited about is charcoal. It’s “absorbent enough to pull all the gunk you don’t want, like pollution and dirt, out of pores,” says cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson. But (and there’s always a but) here’s the thing: Charcoal needs a little bit of time to do its best work. That’s why sheet masks are an ideal way to get it in contact with your skin. This one is also saturated with hyaluronic acid, so it doesn’t leave your face feeling tight and dry. Masks are always going to make this post! I liked this mask. My pores did look tighter and my whole face looked better after this mask.
Burt’s Bees Complete Nourishment Facial Oil – Introducing a concentrated blend of Rosehip, Jojoba and Evening Primrose that works like a serum to give skin a naturally powerful dose of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants. In just one use, this anti-aging powerhouse leaves skin hydrated, smooth, and rejuvenated. When used over time, Burt’s Bees Complete Nourishment Facial oil has been clinically shown to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I just started a bottle of rosehip oil but I will use this one when I finish that up. I am incorporating an oil in my nighttime routine and am looking for the best one for my skin. This came at a good time.
BOXYCHARM JULY had another great month. There have been a couple of good months in a row now. This is another where I have tried some products and am excited to try others.
Blinc Electric Eyes Palette – This palette features a combination of 5 highly pigmented jewel tone eyeshadows. The shades beautifully pair together to give you a gorgeous, golden eye look. This formula blends effortlessly and is long lasting. This is a gorgeous palette. It has that deep berry shade and neutrals that work well together. The quality is just outstanding. They are creamy and pigmented.
ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Lock Diary – This thin, light-weight formula smoothly glides on the lips leaving super intense pigment with a bold ultra satin look. The retail on this is $6. It is a deep fuschia shade from ColourPop’s Hello Kitty collection. It is a pretty, bright summer shade and the formula is comfortable and wears well.
Bare Minerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo – This silky and ultra-fine combination of setting powder and finishing powder instantly vanishes on all skin tones. Enjoy an even, long lasting, natural looking, luminous complexion. In the heat and humidity of July, I must use mattifying powders so I can’t try these until fall. They look wonderful and I can hardly wait to be able to use them.
There were also some good samples in Ipsy July 2017. I choose 1 of the samples in this month’s box. I will start with that sample.
tarte cosmetics Rainforest of the Sea™ deep dive cleansing gel – Dissolve waterproof makeup with this hypoallergenic, non-drying cleanser that’s ideal for daily use. Seafood? It’s vegan, so antioxidant marine ingredients like algae and marine flower extract are the only food we see! (It’s food for your skin. Don’t eat this gel, even though it smells amazing.) Turn your medicine cabinet into a mermaid’s treasure trove with the irresistible under-the-sea packaging. My skin is getting shinier in this weather and this cleanser sounded like it might help with that.
Hempz Ultra Moisturizing Herbal Lip Balm – We’re 100% on board with the beauty benefits of hemp, and we’re not afraid to admit we’re totes addicted to this (totally legal) lip balm. The super silky blend of hemp seed oil, shea butter, and avocado oil soaks into dry, chapped lips, leaving them ultra-smooth and smoochable for hours. If I’m not wearing lipstick I have on some kind of balm. This is full size and I like the brand.
Birchbox July 2017 was ok this month. I am always wondering if I should cancel this subscription. I did have 2 samples that I considered “the best” this month.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser – The best products are those that simply get the job done. This mild face wash does just that by thoroughly cleansing skin without stripping it of moisture or natural oils. Vitamin-rich apricot kernel and avocado oils hydrate and smooth skin while squalane, a signature Kiehl’s ingredient, restores natural moisture balance, leaving skin clean, calm and refreshed. Kiehl’s is one of those brands that I have always wanted to try but haven’t yet. It is a thick cleanser that rinses clean.
Marcelle Hydra-C 24H Energizing Hydrating Gel – Perk up and protect with this lightweight gel moisturizer. With green tea, cucumber extracts, and vitamins C and E, it nourishes and hydrates skin while guarding against pollutants and stressors. The formula glides on with a cooling sensation, soothing skin as it gets to work. This sounds like the perfect summer moisturizer or me. I am looking forward to trying this. I may take this to the beach with me.
I am more than happy with my subscriptions this month. As usual, Boxycharm was the best but they all had a couple great samples. I will be incorporating many of the skincare samples because they sound like what my combo skin needs in the heat and humidity. Several of these will be going to the beach with me.
