I purchased this in my Birthday Haul along with the Honey Black Sugar mask in this line. I used this mask for the first time as part of #MaskaDayinMay. I loved the Honey Black Sugar Mask so read on to see what I thought of this one.
First, here is what the Skinfood website has to say about this mask.
A facial mask that contains mineral-rich organic black sugar, along with strawberry seeds and strawberry seed oil. It applies smoothly on skin and leaves it fresh, clean, and fragrant with a strawberry scent.
SKINFOOD’ s Black Sugar Cleansing skin care line is an exfoliating and moisturizing cleansing line with organic black sugar. Black sugar is enriched with vitamins and minerals to hydrate and nourish skin. Dead skin cells are scrubbed away, leaving skin soft and glowing.
The black sugar sourced by SKINFOOD is not actually black, but a dark brown sugar. The brown color derives from the amount of molasses, a syrup separated out from sugar after the refining process. While most commercial brown sugar is just refined white sugar coated with molasses, black sugar is unrefined, leaving behind more of the natural benefits. Enriched with vitamins and minerals and organically farmed without pesticides, it’ s sweet to the taste and to the touch!

Directions for use:
After cleansing, massage gently into damp skin, or mix with water/cosmetic water and apply. Avoid skin around the eyes and lips. After 10-15 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water.
The very first thing I noticed as I opened the jar is that this mask smells good enough to eat! It smells like strawberry jam. It actually looks a lot like strawberry jam as well. It is ruby red with fine exfoliants in it.
I applied this after my nighttime double cleanse. I typically use my toner before applying a mask but I forgot that step tonight. It is a jelly-like texture and consistency that goes on easily. There was no stinging or burning. The scent lingered while I had the mask on.
I left it on for about 20 or 30 minutes while I fed the dogs. I massaged it into my skin before rinsing to get the exfoliation. It rinsed off easily and cleanly. It did not leave my face dry or tight feeling.
I really did not see any benefit to my skin after using. If anything, my face looked a little red. I was disappointed because I really wanted to love this one. It smells like summer and looks like jam. What’s not to love in that? I much prefer the Black Sugar Honey Mask Wash Off .
Have you tried this mask? Have you tried any of the other Skinfood masks? Did you like them? Any that I should try? Do you have a favorite strawberry mask?

Such a bummer that this face mask was a bust! Sounds like it would smell super good though.
