Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription that is $10 per month. You receive 4-5 samples or deluxe samples each month. You get makeup, skincare, haircare, bath and body, perfume, or beauty tools. Birchbox has 3 choices each month. You can choose a specially curated box and you know exactly what is in it. The 2nd choice is to choose 1 of your samples from 3-5 choices. The final choice is to let them create the box based on your profile. I have chosen each option at one time or another. This month I chose the box based on my profile.
You can see what I typically get in my boxes here, here, here, here, and here If you would like to try Birchbox you can join here. That is my personal link and I will get points. Birchbox is great some months, good others, and not great at times too. Read on to see how they did in September.
The theme for this month is Your Time to Shine. We wouldn’t be Birchbox without you! That’s why we’re making our 7th birthday all about helping your routine be easier and more fun.
12 Benefits Instant Healthy Hair Treatment – The hair experts over at 12 Benefits™ tell us that healthy hair gets its strength and shine from a combination of natural proteins and lipids (who knew?). When you subject your hair to too much chemical processing or heat styling, it tends to lose these precious compounds. Thankfully, this leave-in conditioning mist delivers a host of benefits to dry, parched hair—from boosting the vibrancy of your existing color to preventing future damage. Bonus: the light, clean scent lingers all day long. I have so many hair care samples that it may take a while to get to this. I’m sure I will try it at some point.
Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer – Created in Smashbox Cosmetics’ Los Angeles photo studio to help makeup last longer and look great on set, this hard-working primer is just what we need to feel photo-ready. The non-drying formula absorbs oil to keep our skin looking and feeling smoother and shine-free for up to eight hours, plus it instantly reduces the appearance of visible pores and helps makeup last all day (based on a study with 99 users). Sweat and humidity-resistant, it even wears alone on bare skin for a blurred-out effect. I use primers most of the time and have liked other Smashbox primers I have tried. This sounds like a good one since I have pore issues.
MAC Cosmetics In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash Mascara – For lashes that are as dimensional as you are, this carbon black mascara lengthens, conditions, and fans out every last lash for a look that’s anything but flat. Don’t let the lightweight formula fool you, though. When applied with the unique molded brush that delivers the perfect amount of mascara per swipe—no clumping allowed—lash volume increases by 98 percent and curl by 100 percent. The tip also allows you to accentuate lower lashes and reach each small hair in the corners of eyes for a dramatic flare that won’t flake or smudge. Since it’s ophthalmologist tested, contact lens wearers and those with sensitive eyes can wear it too. Mascara just doesn’t excite me. I use it every day but it is the most utilitarian makeup item I use. It is cool that it is MAC though.
Pixi by Petra LiftLip Max – This volume-maximizing lip gloss makes the case for a glossy sheen pout with its slick (never sticky) finish and peptide-infused formula that instantly plumps. Lips look fuller and feel pillowy soft thanks to jojoba and chamomile, which soothe. With a fresh mint flavor, it creates a cooling sensation every time you apply it. Use if you want to add a sheer wash of color, or layer over your other lip colors for a more intense hue with a lacquered effect. I don’t like lip gloss. It is for younger girls/women than me. This will get passed on.
Starskin 7-Second Morning 7-in-1 Miracle Skin Mask Pads – What if we told you that you could knock out seven steps of your skincare routine in roughly seven seconds? Seems impossible, but really it’s more like a miracle granted by these 7-in-1 facial pads. The dual-sided presoaked rounds feature beads on one end to massage, exfoliate, and tone, plus serum, moisturizer, a leave-on mask, and primer on the other to protect, replenish, nourish, and prep. They’re perfect for hectic mornings when you can’t devote an hour to getting ready, but trust us when we tell you that once you discover how smooth and hydrated your complexion feels, they’ll give the other products in your medicine cabinet a run for their money. This product really intrigues me. It sounds like it could be awesome and it is the sample I am most excited to try.
The Starskin pads are the only sample that excites me in this box. I will use the primer and the mascara. The lipgloss will be given away and I’ll try the hair product at some point. This box is a 2/5.
