Another beauty box sample! I get to try so many skin care, hair care, and makeup products from all my boxes. I originally received a sample of Acure Day Cream in Target Beauty Box November 2015. I used it last winter and loved it. It was rich enough for my winter skin without being heavy or greasy. That is why I was happy to get another sample in my Birchbox August 2017.
Face the day with gotu kola extract and chlorella. This powerhouse combo helps moisturize and protect with a one-two punch. Easily absorbed moisture + effective ingredients = great day!

Gotu Kola is one of the ingredients listed on the front of the tube. This is a small Indian herb that grows in swampy areas or near natural water sources. It is said to be an effective anti-aging ingredient that tightens and tones the skin. Promoting collagen growth is another promised benefit. This will help with fine lines and wrinkles.
The other main ingredient is chlorella which is a blue-green algae packed full of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that have proven skin benefits. Like the Gotu Kola, chlorella promotes collagen production. If you suffer from redness for any reason this can help reduce it. It helps prevent sun damage because it has antioxidants.
This is a much thicker and richer moisturizer than my Holy Grail Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. That has been my go-to morning moisturizer in all but the coldest and driest weather for years. I used Acure Day Cream last winter when my skin needed something heavier and I liked it very much. It says it is for normal to dry skin and it smells like orange to me. I like the scent a lot.
Even though it is thicker than my Clinique DDMG it is quickly absorbed by my skin. It does not feel heavy or greasy. I started using this earlier than I had intended because I was increasing the strength of my tretinoin and was experiencing flaking in the morning. It was making it hard to apply my makeup well.
This works very well with my sunscreen and foundation. There is no pilling or balling and they layer so well together. My skin feels and looks hydrated. It does not make it look shiny at all.
I like this moisturizer so much that I purchased a full size when Bicrhbox had Customer Appreciation Day. It works for my winter skin wonderfully. It keeps it soft and supple. You can buy this on Amazon for $13.75 with free shipping for Prime members. This is a very reasonably priced moisturizer that works well for my combo skin that gets a bit drier in the cold weather.
Have you tried this moisturizer? Do you like it? Have you tried other products from Acure? What is your favorite moisturizer?
