I am a beauty box subscription junkie. I get Ipsy, Allure, Boxycharm, and Birchbox each month. I get both versions of the Walmart beauty box quarterly. I also buy Target beauty boxes if they have samples I want to try.
Each month I like to write a post to highlight what I considered the best samples I received that month. Some are products that I have tried and others are products that I am excited to try. Read on to see what I loved in my September boxes.
I have to say I was not impressed with Birchbox September 2017. It is so up and down that every month I consider canceling. Only 1 sample was good enough to make this Best of post.
Starskin 7-Second Morning 7-in-1 Miracle Skin Mask Pads – What if we told you that you could knock out seven steps of your skincare routine in roughly seven seconds? Seems impossible, but really it’s more like a miracle granted by these 7-in-1 facial pads. The dual-sided presoaked rounds feature beads on one end to massage, exfoliate, and tone, plus serum, moisturizer, a leave-on mask, and primer on the other to protect, replenish, nourish, and prep. They’re perfect for hectic mornings when you can’t devote an hour to getting ready, but trust us when we tell you that once you discover how smooth and hydrated your complexion feels, they’ll give the other products in your medicine cabinet a run for their money. I haven’t tried this yet but it sounds really interesting. I need to use it soon.
Ipsy September 2017 was decent this month. There was one product that I really like and one that I am very excited to try.
ColourPop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Glam Bag – You voted, and here’s the winner! This exclusive matte shade was created in collab with our favorite peeps (ipsters like you). The velvety formula is majorly pigmented, which means you get totally opaque, full-coverage color. Even though it’s matte, it’s super comfy and non-drying thanks to moisturizing shea butter and Vitamin E. This looked like it was going to be too bright a pink for me but I was pleasantly surprised. It looks good on me and I love ColourPop Lippie Stix.
NEOGEN Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop – SOKO GLAM COLLAB: Chosen for ipsters by boss babe/Soko Glam co-founder Charlotte Cho. New formula alert! If serum and oil had a baby, you’d get this seriously lightweight (but still ultra-hydrating) hybrid. The luxe, fresh elixir made our complexion insanely glowy, radiant, and smooth. Truffle fries? Yes, please. Chocolate truffles? Duh. But truffle oil in our skincare? (Say what?) Yup. The fancy, foodie ingredient also helps strengthen skin. I LOVE trying new serums and this sounds so decadent! I haven’t tried it yet because I am finishing up a serum but I am definitely looking forward to it.
As usual, I was happy with Boxycharm September 2017. Even though just two items from the box are included the palette is so nice.
Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette by Pur – This essential palette is filled with highly pigmented and silky smooth shadows. I have used this almost every day since I received it. It has such nice neutral shades and some nice metallic shades. I have been able to create a wide range of looks with it.
Ultra Satin Lip by ColourPop in Strip – High pigmentation and a satin-matte finish in liquid lipstick form to keep your lips soft and comfy all day long. I like ColourPop and this is a pretty neutral shade. I like the Satin formula.
Allure Beauty Box September 2017 was the last of my boxes to arrive this month. There was also two samples in this box that I included in the Best of. I haven’t tried them but I have wanted to try Drunk Elephant for a long time and the couple of Kiehl’s products I have tried impressed me.
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream – This whipped formulation contains an airy blend of six rare African oils to deliver and lock in intense moisture for hours after application. Plantain extract helps recover the feel of firmness and elasticity while visibly brightening skin. Sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer easily soaks in and releases long-lasting hydration. Antioxidant-rich fermented green tea combats signs of aging and relieves irritation from environmental stressors. Loaded with omega acids, Lala Retro™ is a silky, dream come true for dull, tired, dehydrated skin. This silicone-free moisturizer is completely non-sensitizing and non-irritating. I am super excited to get to try a Drunk Elephant product. It is such an expensive line that I would not get to try it otherwise.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Concentrate – Its nonmigrating cream texture is specifically formulated for the delicate eye area, and with repeated use, fine lines are diminished and puffiness and dark circles are reduced. Squalane helps restore skin’s natural moisture balance; lavender essential oil soothes and stimulates skin’s repair process, and evening primrose oil repairs the skin barrier while boosting radiance. Kiehl’s is such a good brand that I am always glad to see their samples in my box. I will try this as soon as I finish my current nighttime eye cream.
What beauty subscriptions do you get? What is your favorite? What good samples did you get this month?
