I get several subscription boxes/bags each month. I get Birchbox, Boxycharm, Allure, and Ipsy. This is my last month with Ipsy. I have accumulated too many samples of blushes, highlighters, and single eyeshadows. I need a break to declutter. I will start getting MissTutii mask subscription instead. It is a sheet mask subscription bag that will send 7-8 masks per month for $13.95. It is $3.95 more than Ipsy but I love masks.
We will start with Boxycharm since it is usually my favorite. Sad to say that this month was not all that great.
Dirty Little Secrets Eyeshadow Chubby – This creamy consistency allows you to use it alone as an eyeshadow, or as an eyeshadow base. This is a very pretty golden color. I am liking this a lot and have already used it several times.
Dr. Brandt Pore Dermabrasion – Pore-perfecting technology at your fingertips, with a professional-grade micro-crystal solution, that instantly deep-cleans and refines pores. This retails for $58 so I was very happy to get an opportunity to try it as part of a $21 subscription box.
Ipsy was not all that great this month either. That made it easy to decide to cancel my subscription.
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed Powder – It’s so light and airy, you can’t feel it on and it gives you a soft, airbrushed look in seconds. It’s made with silk, collagen, and antioxidant-rich ingredients, which means it’ll make your skin super happy. We passed it around the office and the translucent shade works on so many skin tones. This was my sample choice this month and honestly the only item I am excited about. Unfortunately, I have read that this is the last month with sample choice.
I was satisfied with Birchbox this month. I got one of my Holy Grail products. Even though it is a sample size I am still happy.
Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner – Don’t fear the liquid. stila’s genius liner turns anyone into a beauty pro. It gets rid of the complication and mess of regular liquid liner by swapping out the usual brush for a marker-style tip. All of a sudden, it’s easy to get a smooth line, and because it’s waterproof, it won’t budge even on the hottest days. This sample is the reason I picked the curated box this month. I love it. It is my very favorite eyeliner.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate – In our experience, it’s unhealthy things that typically happen around midnight (think back-to-back episodes of The Wire and regrettable junk-food binges). But Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate has us rethinking that theory. The 99.8 percent natural, paraben-free formula boosts skin’s natural reparative functions so that you can wake up to a smoother, firmer complexion. I have received other Kiehl’s samples in past boxes and I like the brand. I am looking forward to trying this out.
Allure also had 2 items that I was happy to get. One was an old favorite and one is a product I am looking forward to trying.
Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial – An overnight facial-in-a-jar to address uneven skin tone while improving skin texture for a brighter, more luminous complexion in as little as one night. OMG, I love this stuff! I got a sample in 5 Faves November 2016 and purchased a trial sized set of this line on Black Friday last year. It is a great product with the most amazing rose scent. I am so excited to get this!
This was just about the worst month for my subscriptions. I was very happy to get my old favorites – the Stila eyeliner and Korres Sleeping Facial – but nothing else really thrilled me. It just seems that I am getting the same old things month after month. Or I am collecting products that I will never use. I am hoping that November will be better.
What beauty subscriptions do you get? What is your favorite? What good samples did you get this month?
