Purity Made Simple by Philosophy

I have loved this cleanser from the beginning and it is still my favorite nighttime cleanser. It is so gentle yet effective. For reference, I use tretinoin 6 nights a week and some type of AHA the other night. I have normal skin with a tendency to shine in the summer and feel drier in the winter. I also get dry patches around my mouth, nose, and chin.

From the Philosophy website:

philosophy: purity is natural. we come into this world with all the right instincts. we are innocent and, therefore, perceive things as they should be, rather than how they are. our conscience is clear, our hands clean and the world at large is truly beautiful. it is at this time we feel most blessed. to begin feeling young again, we must begin with the most basic step of all, the daily ritual of cleansing.

our award-winning cleanser is loved by all for its multitasking, 3-in-1 approach to cleansing. gently cleanses and melts away face and eye makeup in one simple step, while toning and lightly hydrating. skin is left feeling perfectly clean, comfortable and balanced.

how to use

gently massage a quarter-size amount onto a lightly damp face, and massage for 30-60 seconds. rinse and pat dry. use morning and evening. follow with appropriate treatment and moisturizer.

why it works

  • deep cleans pores
  • eliminates makeup build-up
  • natural oil extracts help condition skin
  • fragrance-free formula

I use this as part of a Nighttime Double Cleanse Routine. I remove my makeup before I wash my face with this so I cannot speak to its ability to remove makeup. I use my Clarisonic Mia 2 with this every other night. Purity Made Simple has a thick creamy texture. It has a very nice light scent that I can’t really describe. It spreads easily on the skin and emulsifies with water. One of the things that I love best about this cleanser is that it is so gentle you can use it on your eyes. It does not cause any burning or stinging. It helps get rid of any last traces of eye makeup.

I have never experienced any burning or stinging while using this cleanser. It rinses cleanly and has never left my face feeling dry or tight. It does feel clean and there is no filmy or greasy feel left behind. My face just feels so clean and soft afterward.

This is a pricey cleanser. I only tried it because I got a 12 oz. bottle that year on Black Friday for $15. That bottle lasted almost a year. Last year I picked up the 32 oz. bottle for $25 during Philosophy’s birthday sale.  It is regularly $44 for the 32 oz. size. I would pay full price because I love it that much but you can catch it on sale several times a year.

The large bottle will last me forever. I have used this almost constantly at night for 2 years and I have only gone through a 12 oz. bottle and am about 1/2 way through the large 32 oz. bottle. I only need about a nickel sized amount for my face and neck.

At this point, I don’t see ever NOT using Purity Made Simple. I honestly love this cleanser! It is my Holy Grail for nighttime and it works so well for me. I think it would work well for all skin types. It is simple and basic. It gets my face clean without stripping it of my natural oils.

Have you tried Purity Made Simple? If you haven’t, what are you waiting for?? It really is that good. There will likely be good prices coming up over the holidays and that is a great time to try it.
