Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription that is $10 per month. You receive 4-5 samples or deluxe samples each month. You get makeup, skincare, haircare, bath and body, perfume, or beauty tools. Birchbox has 3 choices each month. You can choose a specially curated box and you know exactly what is in it. The 2nd choice is to choose 1 of your samples from 3-5 choices. The final choice is to let them create the box based on your profile. I have chosen each option at one time or another. This month I did sample choice.
You can see what I typically get in my boxes here, here, here, here, and here. If you would like to try Birchbox you can join here. That is my personal link and I will get points. Birchbox is great some months, good others, and not great at times too. Read on to see which sample I wanted to be sure that I received this month.
too cool for school All-in-One Egg Mellow Cream 5-in-1 Firming Moisturizer – You only need to apply this multitasking moisturizer once before you’ll want to stop cluttering your skincare routine with tons of steps and products. With five uses and multiple benefits packed into one bottle, the formula can be applied as a serum and moisturizer, a neck cream, an eye cream, or a sleeping mask. It’s infused with collagen (great for anti-aging), egg yolk extract, albumen (egg white), niacinamide, and omega oil for proper hydration that visibly plumps, so it even wears well under makeup—no need for a primer. This was my sample choice. I really wanted to try this and it is a good sized sample that has enough uses to see if it works for me.
Lord & Berry Magic Brow Pencil – As if finding the right foundation shade wasn’t hard enough, try matching all the different brown, blonde, and black brow colors to your own set—not that simple either. This creamy pencil gives you two hues to work with—one lighter and one darker—to mimic the color change of brow hairs. Zoom your focus in on the tip of the pencil and you’ll see a subtle marbleized design that helps prevent an unnatural, drawn-on mishap. A few strokes (plus a swoop with the included spoolie to blend) later and you’ll be sporting a your-brows-but-better look. I much prefer brow pencils with broad tips. I will try this but I don’t expect to like it much.
Marcelle Hydra-C Eye Contour Gel-Cream – After a particularly long night of movie-marathoning, even the largest cup of coffee doesn’t make us look awake the next day. But this velvety brightening eye cream not only delivers a quick pick-me-up right where it’s needed the most, it also contains a blend of soothing cucumber and other plant extracts that quickly depuff undereye bags and reduce dark circles. The cooling, fresh effect metal tip applicator improves circulation as it massages the vitamin-infused formula into your skin. Plus, it prevents future fine lines and wrinkles from forming. I use an eye cream morning and night but I really don’t know if they do anything or not! I will use this one but I need something for the lines under my eyes more than I do for dark circles.
Davroe Colour Repair Shampoo – The only thing worse than a disappointing dye job? Premature fading on a good one. Make sure that doesn’t happen with this gentle color-saving shampoo. Rice and wheat amino acids protect and condition hair from inside out, while repairing locks weakened by chemical processes. Plus, plant-based UV Protect Complex™ prevents the sun from sucking the life out of vibrant strands. Oh, and you won’t be able to get enough of the fresh, wild aroma of pink hibiscus. Even though I have colored hair I just can’t get excited to get shampoo in one of my boxes. I will use it but I would be happy to never get shampoo again.
Davroe Colour Repair Conditioner – With over 10,000 beaches, it’s no wonder Australians know how to protect locks against UV rays and color fade. This rich conditioner from down under does just that. Wheat amino acids and rice proteins smooth and strengthen hair from the inside out for greater color intensity and shine. So go on, soak up that vitamin D—your freshly dyed strands can handle it. I feel the same about getting conditioner as I do about shampoo.
COOLA® Face SPF 30 Rōsilliance® BB+ Cream – Forget the pasty-white sunblock of your childhood. This BB cream-sunscreen hybrid is the grown-up version of the classic, and we’re more than happy to upgrade. This lightly tinted, moisturizing blend soothes and hydrates skin with rose botanical stem cells while adding a touch of sheer color that’s ultrablendable and flatters a wide range of skin tones. SPF 30 protects skin from harsh rays—even in water—without leaving a ghostly white cast on our skin. Growing up never looked so good. I wore this with a foundation powder over it. It is super sheer with just a tint of color. I think I will try it under a sheer foundation and see how that works.
This month was just ok for me. The Egg Mellow Cream is the only sample that I am really excited about. I will use the Coola and I will try everything else I’m just not thrilled. This box is a 2/5. Here’s hoping December is much better.
Do you get Birchbox? What did you get this month? Were you pleased? Have you tried any of the products in my box? What do you think of them?
