Holiday Makeup Look with Drugstore Products

I went to my first holiday party recently. I wanted a festive holiday look for the occasion. I created the look using all drugstore products. Looking good for the holidays does not have to cost a fortune. I used a lot of Wet n Wild products for this look.

I started with my usual skincare routine including sunscreen. You should never leave the house without sunscreen even in the winter. It is the single most important step to slow down the aging process for your skin. Skincare is important if you want your makeup to look good. Good skin is the key to flawless makeup.

My first step after completing my skincare routine is a primer. Primer gets your face ready for all that comes after. It makes a smooth canvas for application and helps your makeup last all day. Or all night!

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Face Primer – This miraculous primer can be used all over your face to minimize the appearance of pores, fill in fine lines and wrinkles, even out skin tone, prevent your foundation from caking, and brighten your complexion for ultra-vibrant color that lasts all day. The key ingredient in this miracle primer is white sapphire, formulated into a smooth, silky cream that glides on effortlessly, leaving behind a crystal complexion. This is a decent primer and works as well as any others I have tried. It sells for $4.99. I got this and several other Wet n Wild products used in this look in After Christmas Drugstore/Walmart Bargains. It included this primer, setting spray, and the contour palette I used.

Revlon ColorStay Whipped Crème Foundation in 150 Buff  – Finally, truly decadent makeup offers ultimate performance. The mousse-like texture feels like silk on your skin and the time release formula balances skin for a flawless look. All-day, flexible wear without flaking, caking, or feeling heavy. This foundation has Holy Grail status for me. I love it so much! It is a go-to winter foundation for me. You can buy it for $12 at Walmart. It blends and covers like a dream. It is a medium coverage that you can build for more coverage. It looks great on the skin and powders apply flawlessly over it. I just cannot recommend this highly enough.

Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer  – This super-concentrated treatment concealer features a micro-corrector applicator to help instantly erase dark circles and fine lines. I use this every day for my undereye area. It provides good coverage without settling into my fine lines or looking cakey.  You can pick this up for around $8.

Coty Airspun Loose Powder in Translucent – A Beauty Secret since 1935. The creation of a visionary Master Perfumer, Francois Coty, Airspun is a loose face powder blended with air, to provide the ultimate coverage with a lightweight feel. It features particles that are twirled and swirled until they reach a cloud-like softness. This translucent loose face powder can be used to hide tiny lines, wrinkles, and blemishes to give a flawless finish. It is designed with tints that are spread throughout, which are made to lay flat and evenly on the skin. It can be used as a foundation or to set your makeup in place as a finishing agent. This is another product that I use all the time and always repurchase. There is a reason it has been around so long. It is wonderful as a setting powder. This sells for about $7 and is a huge container that lasts months and months. It is finely milled and does not settle in lines or dry patches.

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Contouring Palette in Dulce de Leche – This duo of perfectly complementary contouring powders delivers a flawlessly sculpted face in no time flat. The deeper color defines while the lighter color highlights your best features, leaving you at your #nofilter best, whatever the occasion. This is another product that is $4.99. It blends well and is easy to work with. It does a nice job of sculpting and highlighting.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush in Pearlescent Pink – This silky-smooth powder strikes the perfect balance between a blendable transparent sheen and a radiant pop of maximum color. Lightweight, long-lasting, and certain to impress. This is a nice, neutral blush that goes well with a variety of looks. It is very pigmented so apply lightly and build to the intensity that you want. The best part is that this blush is $2.99.

To apply my blush and powder I used Real Techniques brushes. These are available at drugstores, are reasonably priced and are high quality. I used the Blush Brush which is custom-cut to contour and define cheeks for flawlessly blended, high definition results. It is the best blush brush I have used.

I applied my Coty Airspun loose powder with Real Techniques Powder Brush. It has a plush large head for sheer application and smooth, high definition results. This is another winner. Both of these brushes are in the $10 range. They are durable and just wonderful.

So that was my face. On to the eyes where there are plenty of reasonably priced drugstore option. I usually use an eyeshadow primer and Wet n Wild is a favorite. I am out of it right now and didn’t have any drugstore primers to use.

When I do my eyes I put on my mascara first. I cannot apply mascara without getting it everywhere so doing it first prevents me from ruining my look. I do my brows and do the shadow last.

Essence I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara – I Love Extreme Mascara’s “crazy” sister – with even more volume! The deep-black, creamy texture covers each individual lash with color and the extra-large plastic brush provides sensational volume. This does create a ton of volume and length. It is really wet in the beginning and hard to work with but once it dried down it is great. This retails for $4.99 at Ulta but I got it for buy 1 Essence product get one 1/2 off in my latest Ulta Haul.

L’ORÉAL Brow Stylist Definer – makes the art of the brow made easy! Shape brows with this ultra-fine 0.5mm pencil tip – a perfect tool to recreate tiny brow hair and allowing you to precisely draw and shape your brows for a well-defined look. This mechanical and retractable pencil has a spoolie brush for combing and blending the perfect brow. I initially purchased this on a Target Shopping Trip while still trying to figure out the best brow product for me. I loved it enough to include it in 5 Faves May 2017. It is a good eyebrow pencil that is around $8.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Eye Contour Light & Shade Palette – The eyeshadow palette you NEED in your life! Makeup Revolution’s Ultra Eye Contour Light & Shade Palette is everything you need for everyday neutral looks. This highly pigmented palette includes 12 blendable, matte shades ranging from cool to warm tones – perfect to contour and define your eye shape. This was part of another Ulta Haul where Makeup Revolution was on sale. It is now $15.99 but I think I paid less for it. This is a dupe for the Kat von Dee Shade and Light palette. Just reasonably priced. It is decent quality and I love the shades. This is one of my favorite palettes and allows the creation of subtle and dramatic looks.

I forgot to include the lipstick in the picture. It was already in my pocket so  I could do touch-ups.

NYX Professional Makeup Butter Lipstick in Lifeguard – Right now this satin finish is our goldilocks texture. Glossy is too much. Matte isn’t doing the trick. But this is just right! These are so insanely creamy that there’s no need to use lip balm beforehand. I got this in my Ipsy February 2017. You can get NYX at Target for $6.49. It is a great lipstick! The color and pigmentation are incredible. The formula is smooth and creamy and lasts well.

This was not a dramatic look because it was a low key party. I just wanted a natural look. It is possible to put together an amazing look at a cheap price.  I will be posting a more glam holiday look using high-end products soon so watch for it.
