Holiday Look Using High End Products

Last week I shared Holiday Makeup Look with Drugstore Products to show that you can create a great holiday look without spending a fortune. For my annual family holiday get together I usually use my high-end makeup. I know there will be tons of pictures and I wanted to look my best.

This look had more glow than my drugstore look. I wanted glow for the pictures and the lighting is lower at this party allowing a more intense look.

Before putting on my makeup I did my morning skincare routine. I washed my face and used a toner. Then I applied my 2 morning serums followed by my eye cream. I finished with moisturizer and sunscreen.

I started with primer like I almost always do.  I have been using the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. This is a silicone based primer but it works well for me. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance for my eyes. This was my first time using this and I wasn’t overly impressed. It was very thin and liquidy.

My foundation for this look was Too Faced Born This Way in Nude. It’s infused coconut water to help replenish the skin’s moisture levels without over hydrating. It’s also enriched the resilient Alpine rose to brighten your skin’s appearance and promote elasticity, while hyaluronic acid provides long-lasting, skin-balancing hydration for a smoother, more youthful appearance. It is medium to full coverage and blends well.

For under eye concealer, I used It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under eye Illumination. It brightens the under eye and conceals. I am really not a fan of It under eye concealers. They settle in the lines under my eye and it looks bad. You can see it in my picture. I concealed my dark spots with Urban Decay Naked Skin. This was my first time using this so I haven’t fully formed an opinion of it.

I set my foundation and concealers with Bare Minerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo. I got this powder in Boxycharm July 2017 and couldn’t use the glow powder until after it got cooler. There are a matte and a glow powder in this set. I used the glow powder since it is the season to glow! This is a finely milled powder that looks good on the skin. It does leave a subtle glow and was perfect for this look.

Then it was on to Benefit Hoola Bronzer to contour my face before applying Urban Decay Baked Bronzer in Gilded. This is my daily bronzer and I am pretty certain it is going to last forever! I have been using it for 2.5 years and it still looks almost new.

For my blush I used the tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Pampered. I got this full sized blush in Allure Beauty Box September 2017. This is a nice color and I like this blush. I have it in 2 more colors but this matched my look better.

Boxycharm October 2017 provided me with my highlighter. It was Becca Champagne Pop Highlighter. You can see in the picture how much it glows. This is a bit extreme for day use so this was my first time to try it out. It is stunning if you want an obvious highlight.

My brow pencil was another subscription box goody. I received the Winky Lux Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil in the same Boxycharm as the Bare Minerals Powder Duo. That was a great box! This pencil has a thick point that makes it fast to get my brows done. I use it everyday and really like it a lot.

I picked up the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Quad in Plum at TJ Maxx for $10. The plum was perfect for this look. It was my first time using Kat Von D eye shadows and I was impressed. They are buttery soft and blend like a dream. I finished my eyes with tarte Light, Camera, Lashes Mascara. This was good for length but I would have liked more volume.

Finally, I completed the look with a red lip. I love being able to pull out my vibrant, red lip colors this time of the year. One of my very favorites is the Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick in Lady Balls. It is just the perfect red for the holidays. I got it last year in the Merry Kissmas set.

I was very pleased with how this look turned out. I felt very festive and in the Christmas spirit. I thought it looked good in the pictures that were taken at the party too.

What are your favorite cosmetics for the holidays? Do you do anything different with your makeup? Do you wear darker or more dramatic colors?
