My last favorites post of 2017! That is so hard to believe. I am working on my 5 faves for 2017 but wanted to finish the year with a monthly favorites. This month it got cold and dry here in Virginia so some skincare is included. I also made changes to my foundation to address the cold.
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge – It’s a 3-in-1 multi-functional makeup sponge by Real Techniques. The rounded side blends larger areas of the face. The precision tip covers blemishes/imperfections and the flat edge contours around the eyes and the nose, leaving you with a complexion that’s smooth, enhanced and gorgeous! I have used this sponge and the Beauty Blender and I think I prefer this one. It is firmer than the Beauty Blender but it does an excellent job if blending out my foundation. It has the added benefit of being around $6 at Walmart which beats the $20 price tag of the Beauty Blender. I would rather save $14 that I can spend on other beauty products.
Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup – Finally, truly decadent makeup offers ultimate performance. The mousse-like texture feels like silk on your skin and the time release formula balances skin for a flawless look. All-day, flexible wear without flaking, caking, or feeling heavy. This is one of the best foundations ever. I have tried foundations from high-end brands and drugstore brands and this is one of the very best I have ever tried. It blends like a dream and makes my skin look flawless. It is medium coverage but can be built up to a full coverage. It lasts all day long and gives me a glow. And the best part is that you can get it for under $10 at the drugstore. If you haven’t tried this, you should. If you have oilier skin it comes in a liquid oil control formula that is also awesome.
Bare Minerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo – This silky and ultra-fine combination of setting powder and finishing powder instantly vanishes on all skin tones. Enjoy an even, long lasting, natural looking, luminous complexion. This has a glow powder and a matte powder. I used the matte powder this summer and it works really well. Since fall I have been using the glow powder and I love it. It sets my makeup and leaves a lovely glow. It has been wonderful for the holiday season.
Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator – a rich, oil-free cream-gel that plumps skin with 24-hour hydration. It instantly rehydrates and helps repair skin’s moisture barrier over time. For very dry to dry combination skins. This has been a lifesaver for my dry flaky chin, mouth, and nose area this month. It feels so hydrating on my face and I wake up with baby smooth skin. It is a gel-like consistency and I would not expect it to be as hydrating as it is.
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask – Recharge your dehydrated skin while you sleep with this innovative mask. It’s formulated with highly concentrated Hydro Ionized Mineral Water to deliver high doses of moisture to stressed, parched skin. Calming Sleepscent, infused with orange flower, rose, and sandalwood, and it relaxes and comforts while apricot and evening primrose extracts to brighten and purify fatigued skin. The result: skin looks and feels radiant, refreshed, and soft so you wake up with soft, glowing skin. I added this to my nighttime routine when the Moisture Surge was not quite enough to help with the flaky skin. This stuff is amazing. I don’t see how such a light gel packs the hydrating punch that this does. It is an incredible product. It absorbs almost immediately and feels ridiculously light on the skin. This has a permanent spot in my skincare routine.
Most of my favorites this month helped with my dry, flaky areas. I came at the problem with both skincare and makeup. The Colorstay foundation is my wintertime favorite no matter what my skin is doing. I would recommend it for all but the oiliest skin. The sleep mask would work for normal and dry skin. It is not that expensive and a little goes a long way. I am not surprised that the Moisture Surge made my list as I am a big Clinique fan.
Have you made adjustments to your skin care for drier winter skin? Have you tried either of my skincare favorites? What is your favorite foundation?
