I know it is said too much but I cannot believe I am writing my last empties post of the year. It just does not seem like 2017 is almost gone! As usual, I used way more products than I would have thought possible. All year I waited for that one empties post that would have almost nothing in it but that post never came. So, let’s take a look at what all I finished up in December.
Bath and Body
Plu Relaxing Hazelnut Body Scrub – I did a full review of this here. It was a nice body scrub and it smelled amazing. It had very fine grit and left my shower smelling wonderful.
Secret Invisible Solid pH Balanced Antiperspirant/Deodorant in Clean Powder – this is my go-to deodorant for the fall and spring. Clean Lavender is my favorite scent but they didn’t have it. I don’t much care for Powder Fresh.
The Body Shop British Rose Instant Glow Body Butter – you can read the review to see why I love this body butter so much. I have already purchased several in different scents.
Skincare
Clinique All About Eyes – this is an eye cream that helps with puffiness and also says it works as a primer for eyeshadow. I had several sample sizes that I got as GWP when I purchased various Clinique items. It is a good eye cream but I can never really tell much difference in eye creams. I doubt I would buy a full size because this is expensive and there are plenty of decent drugstore eye creams.
Dickinson’s Enhanced Witch Hazel Hydrating Toner – read the review to learn more about this. I loved it and will probably repurchase in the future. It is very hydrating and is an all-around good toner. I am trying out some Asian skincare toners right now so it will be a while before I need to buy anything.
Konjac Sponges – Perfect for pampering all skin types, this natural cleansing sponge is made from 100% Konjac Root fibers. Asian Konjac Root has been used for centuries to gently exfoliate and detoxify skin while naturally balancing skin’s PH levels. When wet the sponges soften for gentle cleansing to deliver smooth, soft, brighter looking skin. I discovered Konjac sponges when I started using tretinoin (Retin A). They help to get the dead skin off. Learn more about tretinoin here, here, here and here.
Acure Organics Day Cream – I first received a sample of this in a Target beauty box and loved it. I have purchased a full sized tube of this. It works well with my makeup and has a fresh citrus scent.
Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips – Dissolves and “lifts away” long-wearing makeup, even waterproof mascara. Non-irritating, non-stinging. Ophthalmologist tested. Appropriate for contact lens wearers. This is my all time favorite eye makeup remover. I don’t always use a separate eye makeup remover depending on what I am using as a first cleanser.
Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drops – I got this for a reduced price from #08L and #Klairs to provide an honest review of it which you can read here.
Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator – Don’t let fine lines, acne marks, or redness get you down. Brighten up your day and your skin with this powerful exfoliator. Papaya enzymes work to break down dead cells and even out skin tone while dermatologist-approved microderm crystals fade fine lines and acne scars. Finally, aloe vera, coconut, and vitamins B and E nourish freshly exfoliated skin to keep it free from redness or irritation, making it look like you just got a facial. I use this every 3rd day in the morning. It is a good exfoliator but I haven’t see all the benefits it promised. I got a sample in Birchbox June 2017.
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion – this is a cult classic and now I know why. When I had oily skin this was way too heavy for my skin. Now that I have drier skin this is perfect! It leaves my skin so soft and smooth in the morning. I love Clinique skincare.
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil – DHC Deep Cleansing Oil makeup remover completely dissolves all traces of dirt and cosmetics—even waterproof mascara and eyeliner—while nourishing your complexion with antioxidant-rich olive oil. Using dry hands, massage it onto your dry face, and it immediately goes to work. Add water and it transforms to a milky, vitamin-rich emulsion that rinses clean, leaving your skin feeling soft and nurtured; never dry or greasy. One try and you’ll understand why it’s the ultimate cleanser. I was surprised at how long this small sample lasted. It did an incredible job of removing my makeup. It didn’t do as good a job at removing eye makeup as I would have liked. It is good though and I would repurchase.
Hair Care
Pantene Color Preserve Volume Shampoo – Specially-formulated shampoo for color-treated hair helps keep color radiant without weighing hair down. I was so happy to finally finish this! Not because I didn’t like it but because it honestly was in my shower for 2 years. Right after I bought this monster sized bottle I started washing my hair 2-3 times a week rather than daily. I use much less shampoo now. This is a good shampoo and I like Pantene.
L’Oreal Root Rescue 5G Medium Golden Brown – Discover a breakthrough in root touch-ups. Root Rescue™ is a quick, precise and gentle way to cover roots in just 10 minutes. The low-ammonia formula covers 100% of grays and matches seamlessly with at-home and salon haircolor. No uneven touch-ups, just beautiful, seamless color. This is a regular repurchase for me. I do a full color 1 month and this the next month. It does a great job of covering my roots and letting me go longer between full colors. It is super fast and easy.
Living proof.® Perfect hair Day™ (PhD) In-Shower Styler – Air-drying doesn’t mean you have to go product-free. Enhance your strands with this convenient in-shower styling cream that adds texture and definition with magnetic texturizers and cationic resins while also making hair easier to manage without looking or feeling like you put any product in it. Formulated with a hydrophobic resin to control flyaways and the brand’s patented thickening molecule, PBAE, for fullness, it gives your locks effortless movement and body that everyone will think is natural. I got this sample in my Birchbox May 2017 and liked it so much that I bought a full size. It is amazing!
John Frieda 7 Day Volume – yet another sample that came in some beauty box. Target, I think. You put it on after you use shampoo and conditioner and lightly rinse it out. This is nowhere near as good as the Living Proof product.
Makeup
Girlactik Precision Eyeliner Marker – this came in some subscription box. It is a good eyeliner and it lasted forever. I would repurchase it if I saw it and it wasn’t crazy expensive.
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge – It’s a 3-in-1 multi-functional makeup sponge by Real Techniques. The rounded side blends larger areas of the face. The precision tip covers blemishes/imperfections and the flat edge contours around the eyes and the nose, leaving you with a complexion that’s smooth, enhanced and gorgeous! I like this as much, if not better, than the Beauty Blender and it is 1/3 the cost.
Clinique Even Better Foundation – I love this foundation. It is supposed to help with dark spots. I don’t know how effective it is at that but it is an excellent foundation. It leaves a semi-matte foundation and is medium to full coverage. It blends so well and leaves a flawless finish. I have never used a Clinique foundation that I didn’t love.
I also finished a ton of sheet masks. I am using almost daily so I have decided to do a separate post on the masks I use each month. Otherwise, my empties would be way too long.
It seems like this was a Clinique month. I finished a bunch of Clinique products. I have never tried a Clinique product that I didn’t like. It is one of my favorite brands. I also finished a surprising number of haircare products.
What did you finish up this month? Any of the items in my can? Do you hoard any products the way I do bath and body products?
