5 Faves January 2018

It has been bitterly cold in Virginia in January! We had almost 2 weeks that the temperature did not get above freezing. To add insult to injury we had several days with wind chills in the single digits or below 0. Keeping warm and hydrated was the order of the month and my faves reflect that. Three of these faves are new to me and 2 are favorites that I pull out in the winter. I will start with my 2 regular favorites.

Revlon ColorStay Whipped Crème Foundation – Finally, truly decadent makeup offers ultimate performance. The mousse-like texture feels like silk on your skin and the time release formula balances skin for a flawless look. All-day, flexible wear without flaking, caking, or feeling heavy. This is hands down my favorite drugstore makeup and I pull it out every winter. It blends so well and does not cling to my dry patches. It is just a wonderful foundation and I will always repurchase.

The Body Shop Satsuma Shower Gel – Wake up your shower and refresh your senses as you lather up with our zesty Satsuma Shower Gel. This soap-free cleanser will leave you feeling soft and refreshed. This shower gel enjoys something of a cult status and if you ever smelled it you would know why. It smells amazing! I like to use it on those cold January and February mornings to wake me up and brighten my mood. The lather is rich and creamy and rinses off clean.

ETTG Skin Care Digital Analyzer Monitor for Skin Moisture Oil Skin Testing Tester Pen with LCD Display – Apply the world-leading Bio-Sensor technology. Keeps you aware of your current skin condition.  Comes with Moisture Reference Guide for all seasons. Simple operation; Stylish and portable with compact pen-type design. You hold this pen against your face and it measures the moisture and oil in your skin. If everything is good it will turn green and have a smiley face in the display. If you are too dry it turns red and has a frowny face. I have been using this to determine what my skin needs in this cold, dry weather. My skin has been getting very dehydrated and I have added facial mists all throughout the day to combat it. I have enjoyed playing with this.

Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask to Quench Skin’s Thirst – Put dry skin to bed with this ultra-rich, hydrating overnight mask. Avocado and Apricot Kernel Oils deeply and instantly quench compromised moisture reserves and help build a reservoir for tomorrow. While Japanese Seaweed helps repair skin’s barrier to prevent future dehydration and signs of premature aging. Skin awakens comfortable, refreshed, supple. Now that I know how dehydrated my skin is thanks to my skin analyzer I have been using this almost every night. It smells amazing and absorbs so quickly. It is helping keep my skin hydrated during this cold winter.

The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Body Butter – The super-rich and creamy Cocoa Butter Body Butter moisturizes, softens, and smooths skin. The easily absorbed formula helps condition skin while restoring moisture. I love me some body butter and this is wonderful. It melts on contact with my skin and leaves it so soft and smooth. Plus, it smells incredible! This is perfect for my winter dry skin.

As you can see, all my favorites are about hydrating and moisturizing. This is the time of the year that I am looking for products that keep my skin from getting dry and flaky. The body butter and sleep mask do a great job of keeping my face and body looking good. The skin analyzer lets me know if I need more hydration. The shower gel wakes me up on those cold winter mornings! And my Revlon Colorstay works well even when my face is a little dry.

Have you tried any of my January faves? Do you love them like I do? What have been your favorite products this month?

  1. I do like the Revlon ColorStay Whipped Crème Foundation but the shade I picked up made me look ashy – and the jar packaging is terrible. Also, did you know that Revlon recently discontinued it? I’m not sure if they’re replacing it with something similar.

Also… not to be the bearer of bad news again but The Body Shop discontinued the Cocoa Butter Body Butter… I still see it’s listed on the US site but they announced that it was being discontinued. It’s such an iconic product for them – not sure why they’d do that!
