I am starting 2018 with only 3 beauty box subscriptions. I canceled Ipsy near the end of 2017 because I was getting the same types of samples month after month. It had the least value for me. So now I am only getting Boxycharm, Birchbox, and Allure monthly. I do get the Walmart box quarterly and should have gotten one in January but they have been way off schedule since the winter box. I will get the Target box once in a while too.
Keep reading to see if January was a good month for my beauty boxes.
Birchbox
We will start with Birchbox because it came first. I have been on the fence about canceling this one too. As you can see only 1 sample made the best of for January.
Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer – While traveling does wonders for the mind and soul, it’s not so friendly to our complexions. Whether you always find yourself on an airplane or you’re just a victim of stress and dry weather, this intensely rejuvenating face cream was made for you. The antioxidant- and humectant-packed formula hydrates and revitalizes skin, so that even at your most jet-lagged, you can still rock a radiant complexion. I haven’t tried this yet but I am looking for a more hydrating daytime moisturizer and this sounds promising. My skin has been so dehydrated this winter. I will be trying this when I finish what I am using right now.
Boxycharm
Boxycharm is month after month, the best box. It does cost more but is almost always worth it.
Dr. Brandt – pores no more LUMINIZER PRIMER – LUMINIZER PRIMER delivers a natural radiant glow while blurring pores and imperfections for a beautifully illuminated flawless complexion. Even though I have more primers than I will ever use I am happy to get this one. It is a full size and the retail is $38. I haven’t tried it yet but will soon. I have too many already opened primers to open it yet.
It Cosmetics – Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil – Developed with plastic surgeons, IT Cosmetics’ #1 best-selling*, award-winning eyebrow pencil is infused with brow-enhancing biotin, lecithin, saw palmetto, nettle, green tea, antioxidants, grape seed, and vitamins A, B5, C and E, plus proprietary Brow Power™ Technology to give you your most beautiful, natural-looking brows—even if you have none at all. Plus, its universal transforming shade adjusts to all hair colors based on pressure, its exclusive oval tip mimics the look of real hair and it includes a built-in grooming spooley brush for polished perfection! *#1 brow formula for IT Cosmetics brand. This is another full-size product and it sells for $24. I am looking forward to trying this because my current eyebrow pencil is almost empty.
Allure
I subscribed to Allure over the summer. I have been pretty pleased with it. There were 1 or 2 less than thrilling boxes but overall they have been good.
Sunday Riley C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum – fight the look of dullness, dark spots, and discolorations, while instantly increasing brightness, radiance, and luminosity. This is a full size worth $85! This is just incredible. I am thrilled to get to try this. I cannot believe that I got this full sized Sunday Riley serum in a $15 box. This is the best thing I have ever gotten in a subscription box.
Make Up For Ever Artist Liquid Matte Lipstick in Rosewood – A long wearing & transfer-proof matte liquid lip color that provides high coverage with a comfortable texture. This is a neutral mauve that is a MLBB shade. I love getting lip samples in my boxes.
Obviously, Allure was the hands down best box this month. I am super excited to get to try out that serum. Otherwise, it was not a great month for boxes. I hope that February is a good month for all 3 boxes.

Nice! I really wanna look into getting the allure box now. I used to get Ipsy too and I liked quite a few things but wasn’t terribly excited about them.
