I love all the positive benefits that I see from using Tretinoin. What I don’t love is how dehydrated my skin is since I started using it. I had oily skin my entire life until I started using tret almost 2 years ago. It is much, much worse in the winter. I get dry, flaky skin around my nose, mouth, and chin. I decided to try a sleeping mask to see if it would help with the dryness.
I had a sample of the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask from a Target beauty box. I had been afraid to try it for fear it would be too much for my face. This winter seemed the perfect time to pull this out and try it.
An overnight, moisture-recharging gel mask that quickly absorbs while you sleep to deeply hydrate skin.
- Recharge dehydrated skin overnight. This innovative mask is formulated with highly concentrated Hydro Ionized Mineral Water to deliver intense doses of moisture to stressed, parched skin.
- Calming Sleepscent™, infused with orange flower, rose, and sandalwood, relaxes and comforts while apricot and evening primrose extracts brighten and purify fatigued skin.
- The result: skin looks and feels radiant, refreshed, and soft. Wake up to soft, glowing skin.
Sleep-Tox™
A purification technology to help calm skin from damage and external stressors that skin suffers during the day. Antioxidant-rich Hunza Apricot and Evening Primrose work throughout the night to purify fatigued skin.
Hydro Ionized Mineral Water
Formulated with 6 moisture-maximizing minerals—zinc, manganese, magnesium, sodium, calcium and potassium—that are ionized and stabilized in water to penetrate quicker and deeper into skin. It provides Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF), similar to skin’s own moisturizing agents, to circulate and retain long-lasting moisture.
Moisture Wrap™
An exclusive technology that features a mineral network of moisture-rich beta-glucan to form an 8-hour time-release moisturizing layer over skin. It locks in active ingredients and mineral water.
Directions
Apply evenly across face. Leave treatment overnight and rinse off in the morning. *Use once or twice a week.
This sleeping mask comes in a pretty blue jar. It does not have a spatula so if you are bothered by using your fingers to scoop it out this may not be for you. I figure that my hands are clean and I am not a germophobe in any sense of the word! A full size of this will run you around $25.00.
It is a blue gel-cream consistency with a very nice, light fragarence. I use it right before bed and apply it over all my other nighttime products including moisturizer mixed with oil. I do think this could be used as a stand-alone moisturizer for oily, combo, or normal skin.
It goes on very light and feels a bit cooling. It is absorbed almost immediately and seems to make my other products absorb as well. It is surprising that it can feel as light as it does and still help heavier products be absorbed.
In the morning it is all absorbed. My skin feels soft and smooth. I still have some dryness and flakiness but not as bad. I do think that this will work better in the summer than the winter. I prefer something heavier in the winter as I try desperately to keep my skin hydrated.
Overall, I like the Laneige Water Sleeping mask a lot. It has such a nice texture and scent. I love that it absorbs so easily and leaves my face soft the next morning. It is good but not really enough for my winter dry skin. I am looking forward to using this in the spring and summer.
Have you tried this yet? What did you think of it? What other sleeping masks have you tried? Any recommendations for a super hydrating sleeping mask for winter?

I too, got this as a sample. For me, I actually love it. It makes my skin look really hydrated, and provides a slight brightening effect. I’ve tried this on 3 separate nights this week and my skin has been glowing. I know it’s this as its the only thing I’ve changed in my routine. I’m seriously considering purchasing the product ( currently sitting in my ebay basket). Have you tried any other sleeping masks since?
